St.Shantal English Medium School St Jane Frances de Chantal, is the patroness of the school. The school is owned and managed by the Sisters, Daughters of St. Francis de Sales (DSFS). St.

Shantal School, set within a perfect aesthetic panorama, was established in the year 2000, to fulfill the long felt need for an institute of learning in the remote village of Malamukal. The dream to provide quality education to the less privileged inhabitants of the area by including them along with the mainstream is slowly bearing fruit. At present the school has classes from LKG to XII. The DSFS sisters belong to a congregation that works for the upliftment of the down trodden, especially providing education to children and help to widows and destitute women. Sensing the need for improvement in the social, emotional and moral values in the remote village of Malamukal, alienated, as it was, from the rapidly developing Thiruvananthapuram city, in God’s own country, Kerala, the prayers and hardwork of many sisters took the shape of the pristine school building that exists today. The hurdles were numerous but within 16 years of its inception; it has made giant strides towards offering an all-round education to the budding young children of Thiruvananthapuram, particularly of the village of Malamukal.
