INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON INDIAN KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS: INQUIRY OF ROOTS IN VEDIC LITERATURE : 16th to 20th JULY 2021
Indian knowledge systems underwent several stages of their growth and all of them are generally termed as śāstra. Even theories on literature and theatre are treated as systems of well grounded sciences, since they signify a body of knowledge with their salient features of methodology, range, scope and also the final goal. India from its ancient times treated all systematized bodies of knowledge as śāstra – Science. Hence, science is a blanket word for Indians to denote any type of systematized knowledge.
In the modern world, the sense of śāstra has been shrunk to the extent possible. But in ancient India, we can realise the exercises of intellectuals to understand the term in the sense of all inclusiveness of any systematized knowledge. This has brought wonderful results in the fields of various disciplines. The origin and development of different knowledge systems from Vedas will be discussed in the seminar.
Kantaloor Sala has already initiated several academic programs, including seminars, lectures, workshops, colloquiums and online diploma courses in Vedic literature, Darśanas, Technical sciences, Theatre studies, Aesthetics and Poetics at National and International levels.
We are planning to organize an International Seminar on ‘Indian Knowledge Systems: Inquiry of Roots in Vedic Literature’. Eminent scholars of International repute are presenting papers on various śāstras in six sessions. Prof. George Cardona (Pennsylvania) and Prof. Michael Witzel (Harvard) are the guests of honour in the seminar.
Kantaloor Sala invites you to this significant academic event on a virtual platform, and requests your active participation in deliberations in all the sessions. The link for registration is given below. There is registration fee and a certificate of participation will be given to those who are attending at least four sessions.
