Young Researchers Guiding Coconut Farmers

As part of an innovative STREAM Eco System initiative, high school students are actively contributing to the future of coconut farming in Kerala through research-based academic projects.

Nearly 60 student researchers from different schools participated in the project with the support of agricultural colleges and research centres. A farmers’ seminar and the release of a student-prepared book were also organized to promote scientific coconut cultivation and sustainable farming practices.

The students explored modern opportunities in coconut farming, focusing on value-added products and advanced cultivation methods. The project highlights how scientific farming and better marketing strategies can strengthen coconut production in Kerala.

Products such as Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), coconut milk, coconut chips, desiccated coconut, nata-de-coco, and coconut vinegar were identified as having huge domestic and international market potential, helping farmers generate additional income.

The research also emphasized scientific methods like nutrient management, drip irrigation, mulching, and husk burial to improve productivity and water conservation. Information about disease-resistant varieties, proper fertilization, and farmer-friendly government schemes was also simplified for easy understanding.

The initiative showcases how project-based learning can connect education with real-life social challenges. By combining science, technology, research, engineering, arts, and mathematics, students are developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills while contributing meaningful ideas for society.

Education today is moving beyond textbooks — empowering students to become innovators, researchers, and change-makers for a sustainable future.

പരിമിതമായ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിലും കഠിനാധ്വാനവും കൃത്യമായ മാർഗനിർദ്ദേശവും ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ മികച്ച വിജയം കൈവരിക്കാനാകുമെന്ന് ഈ മിടുക്കികൾ തെളിയിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ഹോസ്റ്റലിലെ പഠനാന്തരീക്ഷവും അധ്യാപകരുടെ പ്രത്യേക ശ്രദ്ധയും ഈ വിജയത്തിന് പിന്നിൽ നിർണായക പങ്കുവഹിച്ചു.

സമഗ്ര ശിക്ഷ കേരളം -സ്റ്റാർസ് -വെർച്വൽ റിയാലിറ്റി ലാബ് - പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി തിരുവനന്തപുരം- മലയൻകീഴ് ഗവണ്മെന്റ് ഗേൾസ് ഹയർസെക്കന്ററി സ്കൂളിൽ ഏകദിന ശില്പശാല സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു.കേന്ദ്ര സാങ്കേതിക സ്ഥാപനമായ സി- ഡാക്കിന്റെ സഹകരണത്തോടെ സെക്കന്ററി, ഹയർ സെക്കന്ററി തലത്തിലെ ശാസ്ത്രവിഷയങ്ങളിൽ നേരനുഭവം സാധ്യമാകാത്ത മേഖലകൾ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് അറുപതിൽപരം ഡിജിറ്റൽ കൺടെന്റുകൾ തയ്യാറാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.നിലവിൽ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ 5 വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിൽ പൈലറ്റ് അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ വി. ആർ ലാബ് സജ്ജമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അടുത്ത ഘട്ടമായി 65 വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിൽ വെർച്വൽ ലാബ് സജ്ജീകരിക്കാനുള്ള ഒരുക്കങ്ങൾ നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

What started as conversations during therapy sessions soon became “Sapta Designz” — a women-led clothing venture specializing in ready-made outfits and dress materials sourced from across India. Using social media and online platforms, these mothers proved that determination can create opportunities even in the toughest circumstances.
Balancing caregiving, therapy schedules, and entrepreneurship, they continue to inspire with their resilience, unity, and hope. Their journey reminds us that with collective strength and perseverance, every challenge can become a new beginning.

A one-day film workshop was organized under the leadership of and to nurture language skills and develop an appreciation for cinema among students. The workshop was held at the mini theatre of . Around 30 students from various schools in the Kayamkulam sub-district participated in the programme.

The event featured the screening of short films and documentaries, along with interactive sessions on cinema appreciation. Renowned films including and were screened as part of the workshop. The programme aimed to encourage creativity, language interest, and viewing culture among children.
