The State Bank of India (SBI) is going to hire 7,000 people this financial year for it's expansion plans “We will hire about 2,000 probationary officers and the rest clerks.
We are going to add 700 more branches this financial year to take the total to beyond 17,000 branches,” Rajnish Kumar, Managing Director of SBI, has said. Addressing a press conference on Monday, Rajnish Kumar said 100 new branches had already been inaugurated and the remaining would be started in the next few months. “We have multiple channels that our customers can reach out to us. In a vast country like India, you need to have a variety of channels,” he said.

चालू आर्थिक वर्षातील पतधोरणाचा चौथा द्विवार्षिक आढावा आज रिझर्व्ह बँकेनं घेतला. या पतधोरणात व्याजदर कपात निश्चित मानली जात होती. गव्हर्नर रघुराम राजन रेपो रेट पाव टक्क्याने कमी करतील, असा अंदाज वर्तवला जात होता. परंतु, राजन यांनी रेपो रेट अर्धा टक्क्याने कमी करून मध्यमवर्गीयांना खुश केलंय. या दरकपातीमुळे गृह आणि वाहन कर्ज स्वस्त होण्याची शक्यता आहे, तसंच कर्जदारांचा ईएमआयही कमी होऊ शकतो. त्यामुळे नोकरदारांच्या खिशात महिनाअखेरपर्यंत पैसा खुळखुळू शकतो.

रिझर्व्ह बँक इतर बँकांना ज्या दरानं कर्ज देते, तो व्याजदर म्हणजे रेपो रेट. हा दर कमी झाल्यास स्वाभाविकच बँकांची कर्जे स्वस्त होऊन अर्थव्यवस्थेला गती येऊ शकते. त्यामुळेच केंद्र सरकार सातत्यानं आरबीआयला रेपो रेट कमी करण्याची सूचना करतंय. त्यानुसार, रघुराम राजन यांनी यावर्षी तीन वेळा व्याजदरात पाव-पाव टक्क्यांची कपात केली होती आणि रेपो रेट ७.२५ टक्क्यांवर आणला होता. परंतु, या दरकपातीचा फायदा प्रत्यक्ष कर्जदारांपर्यंत पोहोचलाच नाही. बँकांनी बेस रेट कमी न केल्यानं कर्जे स्वस्त झालीच नाहीत. त्याबद्दल रिझर्व्ह बँकेनं तीव्र नाराजी व्यक्त केली होती. अर्थव्यवस्थेला प्रोत्साहन देण्यासाठी रेपो रेट कपात हा एकमेव पर्याय नसल्याचं राजन यांनी निक्षून सांगितलं होतं. तरीही, आजच्या पतधोरणात रेपो रेट अर्धा टक्क्याने कमी करून सगळ्यांना 'सरप्राइज'च दिलंय. त्यामुळे हा व्याजदर ६.७५ टक्क्यांवर आलाय. आता बँकांनीही त्यानुसार बेस रेट कमी केले तर कर्जदारांना मोठा फायदा होऊ शकणार आहे.

पावसाच्या अवकृपेमुळे अर्थकारणावर विपरीत परणाम होण्याची चिन्हं असतानाच, रघुराम प्रसन्न झाल्यानं मध्यमवर्गीयांना दिलासा मिळालाय.
