RIP Piloo Reporter, Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, he was 84. Piloo Reporter our ex student from the 1960s batch had a glorious career as an International Cricket Umpire. Also known as PD he was known for his method by which he signaled a boundary was called "Milkshake" by cricket commentator Henry Blofeld. In 1986, Reporter and VK Ramaswamy became the first neutral umpires from India when they stood in a Test match featuring Pakistan and West Indies in Lahore. Reporter was the only Indian umpire to officiate in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. A biography has been written on him, An Umpire Remembers.

Before taking up umpiring, Reporter was employed with the Maharashtra State Electricity Board, and that’s when the then Bombay Cricket Association put up an advertisement, seeking new umpires.
Piloo Reporter had a fall last year around his premise which left him bed ridden since then.
