🧘♀️ Tezpur University celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga 🧘♂️
Tezpur University celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm, marking the grand culmination of TU Yoga Mahotsav 2026, a 60-day countdown festival promoting awareness and practice of yoga.
Participants joined the live streaming of the Common Yoga Protocol programme led by hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi and performed the yoga protocol in unison with millions across the country. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Tezpur University, emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being and encouraged its integration into daily life.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of Yog Manthan, an open-access ISSN journal dedicated to yoga research and allied disciplines. The programme also featured yoga demonstrations by children and university students, reflecting the growing interest in yoga among younger generations.
The celebration reaffirmed Tezpur University’s commitment to holistic wellness, healthy living, and the enduring values of yoga.

On the occasion of Rabha Divas, Tezpur University, in collaboration with the Tezpur University Branch Sahitya Sabha, organized a cultural programme in memory of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha.
Prof. Amarendra Kr. Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Tezpur University, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Sukdev Adhikari, Principal of Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College and President of the Sonitpur District Sahitya Sabha, attended the programme and delivered his address as the Guest of Honour. Shri Dulal Nath, Organising Secretary of the Mangaldai Regional Office of the Asam Sahitya Sabha; Shri Mahendra Kr. Nath, Working President of the Publicity Sub-Committee; and Prof. Rupam Kataki, President of the Tezpur University Branch Sahitya Sabha, were also present, along with members of the Tezpur University fraternity.
A variety of cultural performances, including songs, recitations, and dances inspired by the life and ideals of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, were presented. The event was anchored by Shri Uddipan Hazarika, Research Scholar, Tezpur University.

🧘♀️ Exploring Yoga’s Role in Human Development and Wellbeing
Tezpur University’s Centre for Yoga and Sports Sciences today organized a National Conference on “Yoga for Revitalizing Human Potential and Promoting Holistic Well-Being” in collaboration with leading academic and knowledge partners, including Manipur University, Rajiv Gandhi University, Tripura University, LNIPE, Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, and Sri Aurobindo Yoga and Knowledge Foundation.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Tezpur University, highlighted the importance of integrating yoga into daily life to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit. Chief Guest Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University, emphasized the need for greater scientific research in yoga to complement traditional knowledge.
The conference featured insightful addresses by Yogacharya Subhasish Kar, Dr. Naosekpam Nilkamal Singh, Dr. Pulen Das, and Dr. Indrani Ghosh, who shared perspectives on yoga as a lifestyle, its scientific foundations, and its role in holistic human development.
A major highlight of the inaugural session was the release of the Book of Abstracts, showcasing diverse scholarly contributions. The conference was led by Prof. Papori Baruah, Head, Centre for Yoga and Sports Sciences, Tezpur University.
The event reaffirmed yoga’s growing significance as a pathway to enhancing human potential, wellbeing, and conscious living.
