🌈 Building Happy Schools Begins with Building Happy Hearts 🌈

At Gulmohur High School, we believe that education is not only about academic excellence but also about nurturing emotionally intelligent, responsible and compassionate individuals.

As part of our UNESCO Happy School Programme, students of Classes VI, VII and VIII participated in thoughtfully designed sessions centred around the theme “Pause. Think. Choose.” The activities encouraged learners to understand their emotions, regulate their reactions and make responsible choices in everyday situations.

🧡 Class VI – My Emotion Thermometer

Our young learners explored different emotions by creating their own Emotion Thermometer. They learnt that emotions can change in intensity and that while every emotion is natural, our response to it is a choice. Through colourful illustrations and guided reflection, students identified practical strategies such as deep breathing, counting to ten and seeking help from a trusted adult to calm themselves during challenging moments.

⏸️ Class VII – The Pause Button

Students of Class VII discovered the power of pausing before reacting. By designing a creative Pause Button in their notebooks, they reflected on situations that trigger strong emotions and learnt a simple four-step strategy—Stop, Breathe, Think and Choose. The activity encouraged self-control, thoughtful decision-making and emotional regulation, empowering students to respond calmly instead of reacting impulsively.

🚦 Class VIII – Reaction vs Response

Our Class VIII students explored the difference between an impulsive reaction and a thoughtful response through real-life situations they encounter in school and daily life. They reflected on how respectful communication, empathy and emotional intelligence can help resolve conflicts and strengthen relationships. The activity reinforced the idea that true strength lies in responding with wisdom, patience and respect, even during difficult moments.

These engaging and visually appealing notebook activities transformed classrooms into spaces for meaningful conversations, self-reflection and personal growth. More importantly, they encouraged students to develop lifelong social-emotional skills that extend far beyond the classroom—skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, responsible decision-making and positive communication.

At Gulmohur High School, we remain committed to creating a learning environment where every child feels safe, valued and empowered to make positive choices. Through the UNESCO Happy School Programme, we continue to nurture confident learners, compassionate citizens and responsible leaders of tomorrow.

✨ Because every thoughtful pause today creates a wiser choice tomorrow.
