*Gujarat Day*
Gujarat Day is celebrated every year on 1st May to mark the formation of the state of Gujarat in 1960. On this day, the bilingual Bombay State was divided into Gujarat and Maharashtra based on linguistic lines, giving Gujarati-speaking people their own state. Maharashtra Day is also celebrated on 1st May, commemorating the creation of the state of Maharashtra in 1960 after the division of the Bombay State. *International Labour Day*
International Labour Day, celebrated on 1st May worldwide, is dedicated to honoring the contributions and rights of workers. It originated from the labor union movement, particularly the Haymarket Affair in the United States, which advocated for an eight-hour workday. The day highlights the importance of fair wages, safe working conditions, and workers’ rights. It is observed through rallies, speeches, and awareness programs, recognizing the hard work and dedication of laborers who contribute to the development of society.
