The intent of the project was to be a democratic and inclusive public space - that focus on healthy human relationships between all the communities . As a visitor centre- fulfills the variety of functions and recreational spaces where all the communities come to gather. As it is located on the eastern bank of Sabarmati Riverfront , Ahmedabad , it receives visitors and provide information about the self- growth at an individual level . This building provides central courtyard with well lit spaces like library , terrace gardens , public gatherings spaces , cafeteria and a sensory garden with naturalistic orientation and mobility opportunities And a multi purpose spaces etc .

Revitalizing a community with Public Realm (A Case of Potter’s Community at Sarkhej Roza)

Student Name: Manali Beladiya

Thesis Guide: Ar. Zankhana Gajjar

The main intention of the project is to uplift the Live-Work environment for the potter’s community residing near Sarkhej Roza, to create an impact on life, to create spaces that preserve the cultural heritage as well as encourage them to earn their living, in a whole to uplift the vicinity to attract tourists and customers.

The scope is to plan workspaces to increase workability and livability with exploration in Earth Architecture. The chosen site is one of the major pottery pockets in Ahmedabad, serving as a new gateway to the historic monument- Sarkhej Roza. The aim is to retain the nature of open spaces as experienced on the ground in accordance with the context by using the architectural elements in the planning.
