CERN’s ALICE experiment has achieved something once thought impossible—turning lead into gold. During high-energy collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), scientists observed a rare process where speeding lead nuclei, in near-miss encounters, experienced intense electromagnetic fields that knocked out protons. This phenomenon, called electromagnetic dissociation, briefly transformed lead into gold by removing three protons from its nucleus.

Though the gold created is microscopic—only about 29 picograms during Run 2—and exists for just a fraction of a second, the result is a major step in experimental physics. ALICE’s zero degree calorimeters detected and measured these rare events, confirming long-standing theories about nuclear transmutation through electromagnetic interactions.

Beyond the excitement of turning lead into gold, the discovery improves our understanding of how particle beams behave in high-energy collisions. With upgrades bringing higher luminosity in Run 3, ALICE is set to explore even more groundbreaking phenomena, turning ancient alchemy into a modern scientific reality.

Bone China (Bone China)

Such shiny and expensive utensils of Bone China can be seen in every home nowadays. Such special crakery that is made with white, thin and fine artwork called Bone China. The word bone written on this is actually related to bone (bone). This means you are eating with the help of a cow/bull or pig bones. Bone China is a special type of porcelain developed in the UK and cow/bull or pig bone is mainly used in making this product. Using this gives whitening and transparency.

Bone China is expensive because it requires hundreds of tons of bones to produce it, which are raised from butchers. After this they are boiled, cleaned and burned in the open to ashes. Now the question arises should vegetarians use bone china? Or why just vegetarian, does anyone want to use bone china? People give some argument in this case. Animals are not killed for their bones, bones are a by-product obtained after killing them. But it's something different in case of India. Buffaloes and cows are not killed for their meat in India. Because the number of people eating their meat in India is very low. They are actually killed for their skin and bones. India has world's largest leather markets and here mostly cow/bull/buffalo and pig leather is used. Here often they kill animals for their bones. If seen, the whole industry of work makes the cow die just for its intestine. You don't kill animals, but you or your family joins in those killings as soon as you buy bone china, because production without demand will end automatically.

The China SAT tradition is very old and animals are long being killed. It's true but you can stop this bad act. All you have to do is stop demanding bone china.
