Contemplating the pursuit of a livelihood versus living for the essence of life takes on profound significance on January 30, observed as Martyrs' Day in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary.

The inevitability, unpredictability, and universality of our birth and demise underscore the uncertainty surrounding the allocation of the resources we amass throughout our lives. Just as we cannot foresee who will benefit from these resources, it is crucial to distinguish between pleasures and true happiness. Pleasures, ephemeral and abstract, exert transient effects on our outcomes, whereas genuine happiness, akin to the wisdom of a sapien, holds the potential to consistently enhance our overall well-being.

In the spirit of Gandhiji's teachings, we are reminded that dishonor carries a weightier burden than death itself.
