A cleaning drive was undertaken by a group of volunteers of and at SUNABEDA BURIAL GROUND, which was completely messed with wastes, broken glasses etc.
A total of 32 volunteers undertook the cleaning drive. They cut the wild bushes, burned all left-outs, sprayed phenyl, swept the entire area and planted trees inside the burial ground located near Housing Board Colony of Sunabeda-1.
The Executive Officer of Sunabeda Municipality Mr Alok Ranjan Samantaray attended the cleaning drive, planted trees and in a meeting in the burial place assured the volunteers that a tube-well will be installed soon inside the burial ground and construct a salter inside it to stay during cremation in rainy days.
In this cleaning drive Uma Patra, Anand Mouli Patnaik, DrPabitra Kumar Bedant, Shaik Ibrahim, Ganeswar Patnaik, Pradeep Tripathy, Dipu Patnaik, Swaraj Ray, VijayKumarSahu, Chintamani Prusty, Govinda Ballava Padhi,, Kanhu Barada, Haresh, Members of Koraput District Association of the Deaf, Staffs of Sunabeda Municipality participated.
It is further decided that a mass-plantation drive will be undertaken in the next cleaning drive on 28.6.2016. On behalf of all the volunteers, Dr.Uma Patra thanked Executive Officer Alok Ranjan Samantray for supplying materials and staffs to undertake the activities.
Also the members expressed their special gratitude to Mr Ajodhyanath Samal for providing sterilized gloves to be used by the volunteers during cleaning drive on behalf of Abhishek Medicine Store.
