🔴𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒔: 𝑼𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒖𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂
The tragedy of student su***de is a public health emergency. It’s not a single failure, but a complex interplay of systemic pressures. We need to look beyond marks and understand the root causes:
The Deep-Seated Pressures:
👉 Academic Overload: The immense pressure to crack competitive exams (JEE/NEET) and secure a "successful" future, often fueled by a hyper-competitive coaching culture.
👉Parental Expectations: Unrealistic performance demands and the fear of disappointing family, which often feels heavier than the exam itself.
👉 Mental Health Stigma: The fear of being judged as "weak" prevents students from seeking help or even talking about their anxiety and depression.
👉 Discrimination: Isolation, bullying, and institutional or caste-based discrimination add severe psychological strain.
💡 What is the Real Solution?
We need a shift from focusing only on scores to prioritizing well-being.
👉 Systemic Reform: De-stressing the curriculum and strictly enforcing anti-ragging/anti-discrimination policies in all institutions.
👉 Gatekeeper Training: Training teachers, faculty, and peers to recognize warning signs and know how to refer a student for professional help (e.g., QPR model).
👉 Professional Counseling: Integrating accessible, confidential, and mandatory mental health counseling in all schools and colleges.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬:
* ✅ Validated Psychometric Tests: These are helpful tools used by counselors to identify a student's genuine aptitudes, interests, and potential psychological risk factors (like high stress/anxiety) to ensure a better career fit and targeted support.
✅DMIT Test: can indirectly reduce su***de risk by addressing one of the root causes of student stress: career mismatch and parental expectations.
* Claimed Mechanism: By identifying the "right path" early, it theoretically reduces academic frustration and conflict with parents, thereby lowering stress and despair.
