As part of Observation Visit activities, the first students of the Department of Social Work batch 2026-28 visited PCVC (international foundation for crime privention and victim care)organisation, Chennai and attended an awareness programme on Domestic Violence.

The programme provided us with an opportunity to understand the different forms of domestic violence and its impact on individuals, families, and society.

During the programme, we learned about physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and economic violence, as well as the challenges faced by women survivors. The session also highlighted the importance of awareness, support, counselling, and the role of social workers in addressing domestic violence.

The programme was informative and helped us gain a better understanding of the realities of domestic violence and the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for survivors. The session was an enriching learning experience for all the participating students. Mr. M. Arulappa, Assistant Professor, DSW led the students for this visit.

As part of the first-semester MSW curriculum at RGNIYD, the trainees of the Department of Social Work, Batch 2026–28, visited Dreamz Foundation Trust, Sriperumbudur.

During the visit, the trainees attended an orientation session conducted by Mr. David Paul, Founder Director of Dreamz Foundation who provided valuable insights into the activities and functioning of Dreamz Foundation Trust.

The trainees also organised an awareness session on Menstrual Health and Hygiene for the adolescent girls and women and free sanitary napkins were distributed to the beneficiaries.

This programme was organised as part of Swachhta Pakhwada and the awareness session was conducted by Mrs. Indira John Peter ICTC counselor, Government Hospital Sriperumbudur.

As part of Observation Visit activities, the first-semester MSW students of the Department of Social Work, RGNIYD, 2026–28 batch, visited the Integrated Rural Community Development Society (IRCDS), Tiruvallur on 11th August 2026 forenoon.

The visit provided us with an opportunity to understand the organization’s objectives, structure, and various community development initiatives.

During the visit, we attended an orientation session conducted by Mr. Stephen, Director , IRCDS who provided valuable insights into the organization’s activities, functioning, and approaches to rural community development.

The session helped us understand the importance of community participation and the role of social workers in rural community development.

The visit was informative and provided us with valuable practical exposure to rural community work. It was an enriching learning experience that helped us connect our classroom knowledge with field-level social work practice.

Dr. Arif Rasheed, Assistant Professor, DSW accompanied and guided the students during the visit.
