Mr. Sonam Wangchuk in NIT SRINAGAR.
Sonam Wangchuk (born 1 September 1966) is a Ladakhi engineer, innovator and education reformist.He is the founding-director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) which was founded in 1988 by a group of students who had been in his own words, the ‘victims’ of an alien education system foisted on Ladakh.He is also known for designing the SECMOL campus that runs on solar energy and uses no fossil fuels for cooking, lighting or heating.

Stephen Hawking Memorial Lecture at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar,26 March 2018:- An eminent scientist and a world known academician Prof. Sheikh Javid, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Cluster University Kashmir delivered Stephen William Hawking Memorial Lecture today on 26th March 2018 in the P.G Department of Physics, NIT Srinagar.

The lecture was a part of an initiative taken by the department recently to organize lecture series on every Monday.

Faculty, scholars and undergraduate students, who interacted with expert attended the lecture and it was suggested to encourage U.G students to take up new projects. Many issues in science and technology were discussed and it has been felt that crucial problems across the world can be solved with Physics, employing many body approaches.

Further, cosmologist Hawkings work of unification was discussed. Organizing lecture series in the department have been appreciated by many.
