Grand Mega Event SVEEP MUSICAL SUNDAY at Historic Ghantaghar, Lal Chowk, Inspires Voter Awareness .
Srinagar, 22-09-2024 - The iconic Clock tower, Ghantaghar in the heart of Lal Chowk, Srinagar, witnessed an unforgettable spectacle today as a grand mega event "Musical Sunday"was held to promote voter awareness through the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.
The event, graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. P.K. Pole, Chief Election Officer, J&K, along with District Election Officer Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Nodal Officer for Media Ms. Sapna Kotwal, UT Nodal Officer SVEEP Mr. Qazi Akhter, Revenue Attorney Mr. Tahir Magray, RO 22-Lal Chowk Mr. Aamir Chowdary, and District Nodal Officers for SVEEP MTR Shabina Kysir and MTR Anjum Ara, drew a massive crowd from all walks of life.
The program commenced with a mesmerizing performance by Mr. Anas student of Amarsingh College, whose soulful melodies captivated the audience and set the tone for the day. This was followed by a powerful skit by a local theatre group,Tulkul Art and Media Collective which highlighted the transformative role of every vote in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Guest, Mr. P.K. Pole, in his address, emphasized the importance of informed and enthusiastic voter participation in strengthening our democracy. He urged the youth of Kashmir to become agents of change by educating others about the significance of exercising their fundamental right to vote.
The event featured a diverse range of cultural and musical performances, including traditional Kashmiri folk songs, patriotic songs, and contemporary music. Artists, performers, and cultural groups took to the stage to convey the message of the importance of voter participation in a creative and engaging manner.
District Election officer , Dr. Bilal Mohi-u-din Bhat shared his inspiring insights on the power of informed voting. He emphasized the need for people to make responsible choices and participate actively in the electoral process.

They organized a series of structured quiz competitions centered around crucial voting-related topics such as electoral history, voter rights, and contemporary political issues. These quizzes were designed to be engaging and participatory, attracting active involvement from students across various higher secondary schools. To motivate their participation, the initiative offered incentives and prizes for participants, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and encouraging in-depth learning. SVEEP Awareness Campaign Launched at Red Premier League Inaugural Ceremony, Delhi Public School, Srinagar
Srinagar, September 17, 2024: In a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, the District Nodal Officer, SVEEP, under the guidance of the District Election Officer, Srinagar, launched a special voter awareness campaign during the inaugural ceremony of the much-anticipated Red Premier League (RPL) at Delhi Public School, Srinagar. The campaign, set to run alongside the RPL from September 17 to October 17, 2024, aims to encourage greater participation in the upcoming elections scheduled for September 25, 2024.
The campaign kicked off with the unveiling of the SVEEP MASCOT – the majestic Hangul Deer – which instantly captivated the audience. The mascot not only symbolized the importance of safeguarding democracy but also mingled with dignitaries, players, and attendees, leaving a lasting impression with its friendly interactions.
Colorful banners and standees were strategically placed around the event to draw attention to the upcoming elections, providing important information and inspiring the audience to exercise their right to vote. These vibrant visuals complemented the overall theme of civic responsibility and electoral participation.
In addition to physical displays, the SVEEP team made use of modern technology by playing specially curated voter awareness videos on a large LED wall. These videos served as a reminder to attendees of all ages about the importance of their vote in shaping the future of the nation.
Adding a fun and interactive element to the event, selfie points were installed at various locations around the playground. These spots became an instant hit, with audience members, players, and guests enthusiastically taking selfies with the SVEEP-themed backgrounds, further spreading the message of voter awareness across social media.

To foster voting awareness and engagement among youth, the District Nodal Officer SVEEP Srinagar launched a digital storytelling project involving 25 higher secondary schools. Students were tasked with creating captivating short videos or multimedia presentations that explored the importance of voting.
In conjunction with the digital storytelling initiative, student-led voters campaigns were also implemented by 3 colleges of District Sringar.They organized rallies, conducted workshops, and distributed materials to inform and inspire their peers and community about the transformative power of their votes. On September 11, 2024, a Mega SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Event took place at Baghe-Shagufa Park, Hazratbal, led by District Nodal Officer SVEEP and Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Shabina Kyser. The event aimed to raise voter awareness and encourage active participation from students and the community in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of voting for all eligible citizens, especially those over 18.
The event attracted a large audience, graced by ECI Observer Akilesh Kumar Misra, Returning Officer (RO) 19-Hazratbal Syed Ahmed Kataria, school principals, police officers, civil administration representatives, and media personnel. The primary goal was to educate the public on the significance of voting and the role it plays in strengthening democracy.
The event highlights included a symbolic "Run from Democracy," representing the journey of electoral participation, and various cultural and educational activities. These included a street play ("Nukad Natak") performed by students, traditional dances such as Rouf and Kashmiri Chakker, a game of Kho-Kho, and outdoor activities like freestyle martial arts. These performances aimed to engage the audience and promote the message of responsible voting in an interactive and festive environment.
In addition, a human chain was formed by participants to symbolize unity, and a Tug of War competition emphasized collective effort in the democratic process. Students also delivered speeches on the importance of voting, reminding the audience of the impact of their votes on the community and the nation.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to the District Administration, principals, teachers, and students. The District Administration urged attendees to participate actively in the upcoming assembly elections and commended the efforts of the organizers. Over 15,000 participants attended, making the event a success in spreading awareness about voter participation.

This campaign took place in 27 higher secondary schools in District Srinagar, involving around 4,000 students. These students led voter campaigns and participated in cultural performances, all centered around the theme of the importance of voting. The focus was on making informed choices and understanding the responsibility of voting. The campaign was led by Chief Education Officer and District Nodal Officer Shabina Kyser, along with the District SVEEP team. Their goal was to highlight how every citizen plays a key role in strengthening democracy by actively participating in elections.
