Congratulations on Affiliation for Academic Session 2026–27
I am delighted to share that all private schools in Jammu & Kashmir have been granted affiliation by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education for the academic session 2026–27, as well as for previous years.
This is a significant milestone for the entire education community. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all schools, parents, and students on this remarkable achievement.
The credit for this accomplishment goes to the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Sakeena Itoo. I would like to personally express my sincere gratitude to her on behalf of the Jammu & Kashmir Unaided Private School Association (JKUPSA) for this tremendous contribution to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
This step will undoubtedly strengthen the educational framework and provide stability and confidence to all stakeholders.
The School Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, vide Circular No. 07-JK(Edu) of
2025 dated 13.08.2025, had earlier extended interim relief for the academic session 2025–2026 up to
31st March 2026. This relief was granted as a compassionate and pragmatic measure for those schools
that were unable to submit their affiliation renewal cases to the Board due to the non-availability of
lease deeds as required under S.O. 177.
Demonstrating remarkable foresight and deep concern for the academic welfare of students, the
Hon’ble Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, had provided institutions with a vital opportunity to fulfill the
prescribed norms within the extended timeframe.
Subsequently, the Jammu and Kashmir Un-aided Private Schools Association submitted a fresh
representation seeking further extension of the interim relief for the upcoming academic session 2026–
2027. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of its President, Showkat Chowdhury, and with the
tireless efforts of the dedicated team—particularly Javed Iqbal (Chief Coordinator JK Un aided Private
Schools Association), who made repeated visits to the Jammu Secretariat—the matter was vigorously
pursued with utmost commitment.
In a landmark and highly commendable decision, the Hon’ble Education Minister, Ms. Sakina Itoo, has
once again exhibited exceptional leadership, empathy, and administrative acumen by approving the
extension of interim relief for one more academic session (2026–2027). This timely and benevolent
decision has brought immense relief to numerous affected schools and has ensured continuity and
stability in the academic journey of thousands of students across the Union Territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Un-aided Private Schools Association expresses its profound gratitude and
heartfelt appreciation to the Hon’ble Minister for her unwavering support, visionary leadership, and
student-centric approach. Her decisive intervention has not only provided a crucial breathing space to
institutions but has also safeguarded the educational future of countless students.
This noble gesture stands as a testament to her commitment to strengthening the education system and
addressing the genuine concerns of stakeholders with compassion and resolve.
