Congratulations on Affiliation for Academic Session 2026–27
I am delighted to share that all private schools in Jammu & Kashmir have been granted affiliation by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education for the academic session 2026–27, as well as for previous years.
This is a significant milestone for the entire education community. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all schools, parents, and students on this remarkable achievement.
The credit for this accomplishment goes to the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Sakeena Itoo. I would like to personally express my sincere gratitude to her on behalf of the Jammu & Kashmir Unaided Private School Association (JKUPSA) for this tremendous contribution to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
This step will undoubtedly strengthen the educational framework and provide stability and confidence to all stakeholders.

The Silent Sentinel of Justice: Justice Javed Iqbal Wani Bids Farewell
By Kanoon Ki Dastak
The retirement of Justice Javed Iqbal Wani marks the end of an important chapter for the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. He was known as a calm and balanced judge who believed more in substance than in strong words.
Justice Wani was born on 24 March 1964 in Srinagar. He studied law at the University of Kashmir, where he earned a gold medal. He started his legal career in 1990 and gradually built a strong reputation as an advocate in both Jammu and Srinagar wings of the High Court.
Before becoming a judge, he served as Senior Additional Advocate General. During his time as a lawyer, he handled many important and sensitive cases, including the Pathribal fake encounter case and the J&K Cricket Association scam. These cases helped establish him as a capable and dependable legal professional.
He was appointed as a judge of the High Court in June 2020. His tenure came at a time when the legal and constitutional situation in the region was changing, and his role became even more significant.
As a judge, Justice Wani focused on upholding the rule of law. He made it clear in his judgments that the government cannot ignore or bypass court orders. He strongly believed that once a court has decided an issue, it must be respected and followed.
He also dealt with many cases under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. In such matters, he stressed the importance of following proper legal procedures and protecting personal liberty. His judgments ensured that detention laws are not used without proper justification.
In criminal cases, his approach was balanced. He carefully considered both the rights of the accused and the interests of society before granting or rejecting bail. His decisions showed fairness and careful thinking.
Justice Wani lived a private life and stayed away from public attention. Even though he had connections in the legal community, his work as a judge remained independent and unbiased.
His style of judging was simple and clear. He avoided unnecessary complexity and focused on delivering practical and well-reasoned decisions. He may not have been known for dramatic judgments, but his contribution to strengthening the legal system is significant.
With his retirement, Justice Javed Iqbal Wani leaves behind a legacy of fairness, discipline, and respect for the Constitution. His career shows that true justice is delivered quietly, with honesty and consistency.
