Appeal for Additional Holiday on Eid-ul-Azha 🌙.
The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum humbly appeals to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir to kindly consider granting an additional holiday or special leave for Muslim employees on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Eid-ul-Azha is a sacred festival of immense religious, spiritual, and social significance. It involves important prayers, acts of sacrifice, charity, and family gatherings that extend beyond a two days. An additional holiday would greatly help employees observe these religious duties with due reverence, travel to their native places if required, and spend meaningful time with their families in an atmosphere of peace and devotion.
Such a considerate gesture would not only ease practical difficulties faced by employees but would also reflect the administration’s commitment to inclusivity, harmony, and respect for religious sentiments. The Forum sincerely hopes that this genuine and heartfelt appeal will be sympathetically considered in the larger interest of employees and in the true spirit of Eid-ul-Azha..

Office of the President Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF).
The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) humbly appeals to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Hon’ble Chief Minister, and Hon’ble Education Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to kindly consider the advance release of salary for the month of May 2026, in view of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
In a statement, JKGLTF President Mr. Anver Hussain Wani said that Eid-ul-Azha, one of the most important religious festivals, is expected to be observed towards the end of May. He pointed out that government employees, especially teachers, usually receive their salaries at the end of the month, which often causes genuine financial difficulty while making essential arrangements for the festival.
The Forum believes that advance release of salary would enable employees to celebrate Eid with dignity, comfort, and peace of mind. Such a compassionate step would provide timely relief to thousands of families and reflect the administration’s humane and inclusive approach, while respecting the religious sentiments of its employees.
JKGLTF expresses strong hope that the present leadership, known for its people-friendly and empathetic governance, will positively consider this genuine appeal in the larger interest of employee welfare and social harmony.

United Against Social Evils: A Collective Responsibility.
Jammu & Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) is a body of dedicated teachers committed not only to delivering quality education in government schools but also to confronting the social evils that threaten our youth and society. The Forum strongly believes that schools are the foundation upon which a healthy and progressive society is built.
Among the most alarming challenges today is the growing menace of drug abuse. Teachers, being the closest mentors to students, are actively working to counter this threat through awareness programmes, counselling, and positive student engagement. Alongside academic learning, students are encouraged to participate in sports, competitions, creative arts, crafts, and cultural activities to channel their energies in constructive directions.
However, this responsibility cannot rest on teachers alone. Parents, families, and all sections of society play an equally vital role. A vigilant home environment, open communication with children, and close cooperation between parents and schools are essential to protect young minds from falling prey to drugs and other social evils.
The Jammu & Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum appeals to parents, community leaders, and civil society to join hands with educators. Only through collective effort, shared responsibility, and sustained engagement can we safeguard our children and build a healthier, drug-free, and value-based society.
Together, we can guide our youth towards hope, purpose, and a brighter future..

JKGLTF CONDEMNS MISLEADING STATEMENT.
The Jammu & Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) strongly condemns the irresponsible statement made by a former Chairman of a Private School Association, wrongly blaming government school students for drug abuse and social degradation.
Drug abuse is a societal problem, not limited to any one category of students. Such baseless remarks unfairly stigmatize government school students and undermine the sincere efforts of teachers.
Students of both government and private schools are our collective responsibility. Instead of spreading misinformation, all stakeholders must work together to protect our youth from this menace.
