The student community of 'IET On Campus' organized an introductory session for 2019, 2020, and 2021 batch students of National Institute of Technology Srinagar and briefed them about its role in the engineering community.

Around 100 participants attended the session making it a grand success.

IET On Campus is an initiative taken by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Institute. It provides skills and experience to the students to succeed in their careers and supports young engineers and technicians.

During the session, students were also informed about the 'IET On Campus' and how can they join the community. What benefits they can get if they join the community.

While a formal vote of thanks was presented by Syed Aga Hadi, Community Chair IET On-Campus, and Campus Recruitment Coordinator, NIT Srinagar. He thanked experts and participants, for making the event a grand success

IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar in collaboration with Department of Trainings & Placements organized an online CV/Resume Building Workshop on 14th August, 2021. The workshop took place on Google Meet and was correspondingly live streamed on YouTube. The Workshop was chaired by the Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. Rakesh Sehgal, whereas Dr. M.A Bazaz, HOD, EED was the convener. The Coordinators of the workshop were Dr Chilaka Ranga, Faculty Coordinator, IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar and Dr Obbu Chandrasekhar, Head, Department of Training & Placements, NIT Srinagar. Dr Ranga briefed the participants about IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar after which Dr Obbu spoke about the Department of Training & Placements and the Workshop. They stressed upon the importance of knowing how to build a CV/Resume and encouraged the Student Organizers to organise more such events. The Expert Speakers for the workshop were Dr Nasir F Butt, Assistant Professor, HSS&M Department, NIT Srinagar and Dr Nufazil Ahangar, Assistant Professor, HSS&M Department, NIT Srinagar. Around 400 students from various institutions across India participated in the workshop. Dr Naasir gave a brief talk about the different type of CVs and Résumés while Dr Nufazil gave a presentation to the participants showing what all should one include in their Resume to get noticed by an employer. After the talk by experts, the participants actively engaged in the question answer session where all their doubts were cleared by the speakers. The participants expressed their feedbacks in the comments section of Google Meet and YouTube as well as on the feedback form provided to them. At the end of the workshop, Syed Aga Hadi Riza, Community Chair IET On Campus, and Campus Recruitment Coordinator, NIT Srinagar thanked the guests and the participants, following which the workshop came to an end. The event was hosted by S Shriram, Community Secretary IET On Campus.

A virtual Extempore Competition titled “Just A Minute” was organized by IET On-Campus, NIT Srinagar on April 10th, 2021 from 12 PM to 2 PM via Google Meet. Participants for the same included students from 2018, 2019 and the 2020 batch. They were given an on-spot topic about which they had speak for a maximum of 3 minutes. The topics ranged from current affairs such as Covid-19, Vaccination, Lockdowns to Engineering Life and Entrepreneurship. The participants were adjudged by Dr Nasir F Butt, Assistant Professor, Humanities and Social Sciences Department, NIT Srinagar and Dr Chilaka Ranga, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, NIT Srinagar. The host for the event was S Shriram, Community Secretary while the Timer and Buzzer were managed by Himanshu Verma, Member IET On-Campus.

The winners for the competition were declared by Dr. Nasir Butt

🥉– Kamran Elyas Lone (2020 Batch)

Special mentions were also given to the 4th Runner up – Aasif Qayoom and 5th Runner up – Utkarsh Raj. Winners were awarded Cash Prizes worth Rs. 1800.

Dr. Nasir and Dr. Ranga also congratulated the organizing committee for being highly efficient and commended the time management skills of the committee. The Competition came to an end with the Vote of Thanks being delivered by Syed Aga Hadi Riza, Community Vice-Chair.

The participants will be provided with on spot topic and would have to speak about the same for 3 minutes.

IET On Campus NIT Srinagar organized a TEQIP III sponsored Five-Day Online workshop on “Application of MATLAB in Engineering”. The workshop was held on Google Meet and YouTube Live Stream facilitating over 200 participants across India. The workshop was inaugurated on 26th Nov, 2020 at 3:00PM by Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal, Director NIT Srinagar along with the esteemed presence of Prof. M F Wani, Coordinator TEQIP III and Dr M A Bazaz HOD EED. Prof. Sehgal congratulated IET On-Campus for organizing back to back activities and wished us all the success. Prof. Wani expressed his delight for the workshop while Dr Bazaz stressed upon the need for today’s generation to learn programming languages.

The first session of the workshop was held by Dr Ravi Bhushan, Assistant Professor Electrical Engineering Department NIT Srinagar (J&K) on “A Gentle Approach for MATLAB Beginners”. He introduced MATLAB from the very basics and gradually moved towards the advances.

On the second day, Dr Obbu Chandra Sekhar, Associate Professor Electrical Engineering Department NIT Srinagar (J&K) delivered an interactive session on “Simulation of Electric Circuits by MATLAB”. Participants were very excited and showed great interest in the topic.

Dr Ranjeet Kumar Rout, Assistant Professor Computer Science and Engineering Department NIT Srinagar (J&K) delivered the third interactive session on “Application & Implementation of Optimization Algorithms using MATLAB”. He enlightened the participants on how scientists use the patterns in nature to draw solutions to the problems they face.

The fourth session of the workshop was addressed by Dr Chilaka Ranga, Assistant Professor Electrical Engineering Department NIT Srinagar (J&K) on the topic “Application of Fuzzy Logic in Engineering Applications”. The participants were very eager to learn more about this topic.

The last day of the workshop was addressed by Dr Shahid Mehraj Shah, Assistant Professor Electronics & Communication Engineering Department NIT Srinagar (J&K) on “Monte Carlo Simulation in MATLAB”. He explained the participants about the concept of Probability used in Monte Carlo. The participants showed immense interest while learning the topic and was made very interactive.

The session was followed by the Valedictory Ceremony at 3:00PM. It was graced by the presence of Prof. M F Wani, TEQIP III Coordinator, Dr M A Bazaz, HOD EED and Dr Chilaka Ranga, Faculty Coordinator, IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar. Dr Ranga gave a brief to the gathering about the happenings of the workshop while Prof Wani shared with the participants his experiences with MATLAB and its importance in the engineering field. Dr Bazaz congratulated IET On Campus NIT Srinagar for successfully completing the workshop and stressed upon the need for practice in programming languages. Participants shared their feedbacks on the workshop and asked the organizing committee members Mr. Ashish Kumar A***n, Community Chair; Mr. Syed Aga Hadi Riza, Community Vice Chair; Mr. S Shriram, Community Secretary and Mr. Ravi Chandra Kumara, Social Media Manager, IET On Campus NIT Srinagar to organize more such events and workshops. Greetings of the Day!

IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar is organizing a TEQIP III sponsored Five Day Workshop on “Application of MATLAB in Engineering” from 26th to 30th November, 2020.

In this workshop, you would start learning MATLAB from a beginner level and slowly ease your way into more advanced topics and programs. The workshop would consist of interactive lectures and sample MATLAB problems that the students generally face. It is designed to give the participants a basic understanding of MATLAB, including popular toolboxes. The majority of engineers in various fields are relying on the different kinds of math functions and calculations. This course is a general MATLAB Programming training, and it means that everyone can join regardless of their
major and field of study.

IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar officially inaugurated the IET Student Chapter at NIT Srinagar by jointly hosting a webinar with IET, Delhi Local Network on the topic “IET and it’s Importance to Engineering Students” on 22nd October, 2020 at 3:00PM (IST). The Student Chapter was inaugurated graciously by Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, Director NIT Srinagar and Chief Guest Shri Mehtab Singh, Chairman IET Delhi Local Network. Prof. Sehgal expressed his delight that an international institution such as IET was opening it’s Student Chapter at NIT Srinagar while Mr. Singh elaborated on the objectives of IET, the future prospects and a plethora of options which it holds for the upcoming engineers.

The inaugural ceremony was also graced by the presence of Prof. A H Bhat, HOD EED the Chief Guests Mr. RN Rajpoot, Vice Chairman IET CCSA and Mr. Aman Rajput, YP Chairman IET Delhi Local Network and the members of IET Delhi Local Network – Mrs. Tarini Baswal, Secretary IET DLN, Mr. N Venkatesh, Senior Member IET Delhi Local Network, Mr. Vijay Kumar Gupta, Ex Chairman IET DLN, Mr. Ashish Srivastava, Former Secretary, IET DLN and Mr. Rajendra Singh Grover.

Dr. Chilaka Ranga, Facilitator IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar delivered the welcome address where he introduced the club to the participants and expressed his heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to the Director NIT Srinagar for the support and Prof. M F Wani for the reimbursements that were done for the student members of NIT Srinagar. He also thanked Prof. A H Bhat, HOD EED for his constant support and motivation.

IET DLN Secretary, Mrs. Tarini Baswal gave insights on encouraging the women engineers to be a part of organizations as IET as well as emphasized the need of engineers in the growing world while Mr. N Venkatesh congratulated the Organizing committee for conducting a well mannered Inaugural ceremony. He wished IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar luck and highlighted upon the need for an engineer to be social, which could be achieved through platforms such as IET.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by the webinar, which started with the introduction of the Chief Guests. Mr. RN Rajpoot briefed the participants about the spread of IET in India and Worldwide. He encouraged the participants to join the IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar. He was followed by Mr. Aman Rajput who stated that it had been a longing wish of the IET Community to have a branch at the Crown of India, and he was delighted to have finally achieved it through NIT Srinagar. He also spoke about the various benefits of joining the IET Community, and highlighted upon the various competitions being organized from time to time by IET DLN and CCSA, which provide the participants with a wealth of knowledge and exposure. He also emphasized upon the numerous certificate courses and job opportunities provided by IET, and also shared his experience about the same. He highlighted upon the various competitions that would be organized by IET DLN and IET South Asia Network which would give the participants a worldwide exposure as well as shared his personal experience with IET as a student member.

Towards the closure of the webinar, many of the IET On Campus members from NIT Srinagar presented their thoughts in regard to the topic, following which the participants were briefed upon the procedure to join the community.

The webinar came to an end with the Vote of Thanks being delivered to the participants and encouraging them to enroll for IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar.
