📌 Government Boys High School Takanwaripora – Special Event Highlights
🗓️ Tuesday, 26th August 2025

It was a moment of pride and honour for Government Boys High School Takanwaripora to host a special programme in the esteemed presence of distinguished dignitaries, respected officers, and honoured guests.

The special guest of the day was the Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare Departments, Madam Sakina Yatoo, whose inspiring presence brought great joy to the school.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included:

Along with other respected officers and dignitaries from the Departments of R&B, Health, and PHE.

The guests were warmly welcomed by the Headmaster, Madam Nageena Bano, and ZEO Eidgah, Madam Nighat Parveen, while the students enthusiastically greeted the Hon’ble Minister, the Director, and the CEO with zeal and excitement.

The programme began with a warm welcome address by Mr. Irfan Ahmad Bangroo , followed by the speech of President SMDC, Mr. Abdul Hameed, who highlighted three key issues:
1️⃣ Renovation of the school building
2️⃣ Development of the playground
3️⃣ Upgradation of the school to Higher Secondary level

Later, MLA Eidgah, Janab Haji Mubarak Gul Sahab, addressed the gathering, assuring the community of developmental support for the school and highlighting the urgent need for a drug-free society.

Our Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo, then took the stage and delivered an encouraging message. He urged students to focus on their studies with dedication and assured them of continuous guidance from the Department. Importantly, he emphasized the growing danger of drug abuse among youth and advised teachers to remain vigilant and give special attention to creating a drug-free school environment.

The highlight of the programme was the address of our Hon’ble Minister, Madam Sakina Yatoo. She applauded the dedication of teachers, the leadership of the Headmaster, ZEO, CEO, and the Director, and expressed her firm commitment to education. She assured the upgradation of the school to the Higher Secondary level while also promising improved infrastructure and playground facilities. Madam Sakina Yatoo also strongly spoke about the menace of drugs, reminding students and parents that only education, awareness, and discipline can protect the younger generation from this harmful path.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Irfan Ahmad Bangroo, who expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister and all the dignitaries for sparing their valuable time and motivating the students and staff.

✨ Truly, the day was a milestone for our school – a celebration of knowledge, commitment, and hope for a drug-free and educated future.

"Every ending has a new beginning, and farewells are the bridges to tomorrow."
The Farewell Ceremony for Class 10th, 2025, was a heartwarming and memorable event. Organized by the school staff and the 9th class students, it was a perfect blend of emotions, gratitude, and celebration. The 9th graders warmly welcomed their seniors and presented beautiful performances, showcasing songs, dances, and heartfelt speeches that left everyone emotional. The 10th class students, in return, shared their experiences and memories, making the day unforgettable.
Headmistress Ma’am addressed the students with best wishes for their future, encouraging them to study well, succeed, and make their families proud. Her inspiring words touched every heart.
In the end, the Headmistress honored the 10th class students with medals and certificates for their achievements and dedication.
The ceremony wasn’t just a goodbye—it was a celebration of new journeys, dreams, and aspirations waiting to unfold.

May 31: In commemoration of World No To***co Day 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar organized a public health awareness event at Government Boys High School (GBHS), Takanwaripora, focusing on this year’s theme: “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on To***co and Ni****ne Products.”

The event featured elocution and poster competitions, with enthusiastic participation from students who highlighted the manipulative strategies of the to***co industry and advocated for a to***co-free future. A short skit, performed by students, creatively depicted the harmful influence of to***co marketing on youth and emphasized the need for informed decision-making.

Dr. Zaid Zahoor, from the Department of Community Medicine, delivered a compelling lecture on the detrimental effects of smoking and ni****ne use, underlining both immediate and long-term health consequences.

The audience was further addressed by Prof. (Dr.) S. M. Salim Khan, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, who encouraged students to act as No-To***co Ambassadors within their homes and communities. He urged them to take a stand by motivating family members to quit smoking and proudly display 'To***co Free Home' plaques.

Dr. Touseef Ahmad Bhat, Secretary, Rotary Club, Kashmir, echoed similar sentiments and emphasized the importance of community-level advocacy to counter to***co industry propaganda.

Dr. Sameena Yousuf, Organising Secretary of the event, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing sincere appreciation to the Headmistress of GBHS, Takanwaripora, Mtr. Nageena Shamas, and Mr. Irfan for their support and for providing a platform to engage with a demographic highly susceptible to to***co industry influence.

The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony wherein winners of the elocution and poster competitions received certificates of merit and medals.

The students who performed the skit were awarded a trophy in recognition of their impactful performance.

All participants received certificates of participation to acknowledge their valuable contributions.

The event successfully fostered awareness and empowered students to become proactive in the fight against to***co and ni****ne use, aligning with the global mission to expose and resist industry tactics.
