🏠 🚿 🗑 Ever wondered how many houses in India were "pucca" houses, with a separate kitchen, a toilet, a bathroom & some arrangement for disposing of household waste?
The answer is less than third!
Only 28.4 percent of houses in India were pucca houses with a separate kitchen, a toilet, a bathroom and some arrangement for disposing of household waste in 2020-21, data from the NSS Round 78 shows. While 60.6 percent of urban houses satisfied these criteria, in rural areas this share was as low as 13.3 percent.

🍳 🥘 ? Six in ten Indian households were using as their primary fuel for cooking in 2020-21, but this varied greatly based on region, class and community.
Sample this:
Four out of five households in the richest income quintile had access to LPG fuel in 2020-21, but this was true for only half of the households in the bottom two quintiles, data from the NSS Round 78 shows.
Further, while three out of every four dominant caste households reported using LPG as their primary fuel, only 53.3 percent of those from Scheduled Caste communities reported the same.
Among Scheduled Tribe households, only 31.6 percent were using LPG as their primary fuel source, and two-third households relied on firewood in 2020-21.

🚰 ? Hand pumps and tube wells were the most common source of drinking water in India in 2020-21. Four in ten Indian households relied on them as their primary source of drinking water.
On the other hand, 36.6 percent of households had access to piped drinking water. But this share varied by region, caste and class.
