Design is More Than Talent-Here's Why
According to Prof. Esther C. Schmidt, it begins with curiosity. The ability to observe, question, and understand the stories that spaces carry.
At JSDA, Design is about far more than aesthetics. Students explore how materials, culture, history, technology, and everyday life come together to shape the environments we inhabit.
Learning happens through studio work, conversations, site visits, hands-on making, and constant experimentation. The aim is to help students see spaces not simply as objects to design, but as places where people live, work, gather, and create meaning.
As Prof. Schmidt reminds us, education should be "windows and not mirrors" - opening new ways of seeing the world.

Celebrating the culmination of years of learning, exploration, and design at the 𝗝𝗦𝗗𝗔 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Final-year students from 𝗕.𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗕.𝗗𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕.𝗗𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 (𝗜𝘅𝗗) presented their thesis projects to a distinguished panel of external jurors.
