On 22 December 2025, we held a rich and engaging panel discussion on Coloniality of Being and Black Identity in Postcolonial African and South Asian Contexts, featuring Prof. A.O. Ayodele and Prof. Olusegun Adeyeri, and moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Hebatallah Adam.
The conversation brought forward cross-regional perspectives, postcolonial identities, and dialogues rooted in the Global South.
The panel discussion was organised in collaboration with the Global South Research Foundation and the Africa Dialogue Forum.

A discussion forum entitled “Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace – An Academic Reflection” was organized on 3 November 2025 at O.P. Jindal Global University. This discussion forum focused on the after-effects of the October 2025 Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace on the Gaza Peace Plan. The meeting highlighted the role of the Global South in the promotion of sustainable peace, concluding that justice, reconstruction, and international engagement, alongside a ceasefire, are essential for the achievement of sustainable peace.

The Jindal Centre for the Global South, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Economic Association and the Global South Research Foundation, recently hosted a guest lecture by Prof. Alex M. Thomas (Azim Premji University, Bengaluru) on “Understanding Political Economy: Histories, Theories, and the Global South”.

The session explored how economic ideas are shaped by political and historical contexts, moving beyond “neutral” models to reveal how paradigms influence policy and perception. From colonial legacies to debates between classical and marginalist schools, Prof. Thomas encouraged the audience to question dominant narratives and embrace pluralism in economic thought.

The event was also joined by Sushma S***a and Jaskaran Singh, whose contributions were important to the discussion.
An afternoon of critical dialogue, challenging conventional economics, and expanding the way we think about the Global South.
