Why this Competition?
A.R. Burla Mahila Varishtha Mahavidyalaya, Solapur constantly organizes many competitions to create a platform for UG and PG students. After the grand success of A National Level E-Essay Writing Competition in the month of June, 2020 we are coming up with A National Level E-Poetry Writing Competition. Poetry is important because it helps us understand and appreciate the world around us. Poetry, if we embrace it, can offer us a way to empathize and understand one another. Here we are organizing ‘A National E-Level Poetry Competition’, a literary platform which can help you to exploit your hidden talent and give vent to your emotions through words.

:

-A poem in its entirety must be an original work by the person entering the contest. *Plagiarism is a serious offense with serious consequences.

-Each contestant should send only one poem.

-Poetry can be written on subjects mentioned above.

-There is no entry fee for this competition.

-All poems must be written in English.

-Poems should not be more than 20-25 lines.

-Adhere to basic rules of capitalization:
· Do not type the entire poem in capital letters.
· Do not capitalize the first letter of every word.
· Only capitalize words that are proper nouns (i.e. names and places).

-Poems containing language that is vulgar, offensive, or wholly inappropriate will not be accepted.

-Include your name and other information (College name, Mobile Number, Email Id) at the end of your poem.

-Poem should be sent in MS WORD (Times New Roman, Font Size 12) file format. (PDF will not be accepted)

All winners will be notified by email or by telephone. The winning entries will be published on Page (https://www.facebook.com/Dept-Of-English-A-R-Burla-Mahila-Mahavidyalaya-Solapur-104966131219053/) and

(https://englishlinguafranka.blogspot.com/2020/06/national-level-e-poetry-writing.html) of the College.

Contestants will be judged on poetic technique, effectiveness, style, and creativity. Top 20 Poems will be selected for second round i.e Presentation Round. The winners will be selected on the basis of the content of the poem and presentation style.

Prize winning poetry presentations will be uploaded on the college Youtube Channel. Prize winners and all contestants will receive E-Certificates.

#इंग्रजी_ई_निबंध_स्पर्धा

जगभरात कोविड-१९ या महामारीचा प्रादुर्भाव दिवसेंदिवस वाढत आहे. रोज वाढणारी रुग्णांची संख्या, त्यामुळे तरुणांपासून वृद्धांपर्यंत सगळ्यांच्या मनामध्ये तणाव आणि भीतीचे वातावरण निर्माण झाले आहे. या पार्श्वभूमीवर युवकांच्या मनामध्ये सकारात्मक ऊर्जा निर्माण करण्यासाठी आणि कोविड-१९ कडे बघण्याचा युवकांच्या सकारात्मक विचारांना व्यासपीठ निर्माण करून देण्यासाठी पद्माशाली शिक्षण संस्थेचे ए.आर.बुर्ला महिला वरिष्ठ महाविद्यालय, सोलापूरच्या इंग्रजी विभाग आणि महाविद्यालयाच्या आयक्यूएसी विभाग यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने राष्ट्रीय पातळीवर इंग्रजी ई-निबंध स्पर्धेचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.

या स्पर्धेसाठी
१. कोविड १९: द रोल ऑफ मास मीडिया २. कोविड १९: सोशियो-इकॉनॉमिक चालेंजेस
३. कोविड १९- लॉकडाऊन: अ टाईम टू इन्ट्रोस्पेक्ट
४. कोविड १९- लॉकडाऊन: इट्स पोजिटीव्ह इफेक्ट्स ऑन इनव्हायरमेन्ट
आणि
५. पेंडमीक क्राइसिस: लेसन्स फॉर द फ्युचर हे विषय दिलेले होते.

कर्नाटक, आंध्रप्रदेश, तामिळनाडू, पंजाब असे देशभरातून अनेक राज्यांमधून या स्पर्धेसाठी एकूण ८६ निबंध प्राप्त झाले. या ८६ विद्यार्थ्यांमधून सर्वोत्कृष्ट ३ आणि २ उत्तेजनार्थ निबंध निवडण्यात आले.

श्रेय गोसावी (व्ही.जि. वझे कॉलेज, मुलुंड) याने प्रथम, सुप्रिया यळमेली (ए.जी.पाटील इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ पॉलिटेक्निक, सोलापूर) हिने द्वितीय तर मनाली देसाई (मॉडर्न कॉलेज ऑफ इंजिनिअरिंग, पुणे) हे तृतीय विजेते ठरले असून प्रथम विजेत्यास १०००/-रोख व ई-प्रमाणपत्र, द्वितीय विजेत्यास ५००/- रोख व ई-प्रमाणपत्र आणि तृतीय विजेत्यास ३००/- रोख व ई-प्रमाणपत्र देऊन सन्मानित करण्यात आले. त्याचप्रमाणे रोशनी डिसुझा (मॉडर्न कॉलेज ऑफ इंजिनिअरिंग, पुणे) आणि ईशा सरदगिकर (एन.बी.नवले कॉलेज ऑफ इंजिनिअरिंग, सोलापूर) यांना उत्तेजनार्थ बक्षीस म्हणून प्रत्येकी २००/-रोख व ई- प्रमाणपत्र देऊन सन्मान करण्यात आले.

महाविद्यालयाचे प्राचार्य डॉ.राजेंद्र शेंडगे सर यांनी विजेत्यांचे कौतुक आणि अभिनंदन केले. इंग्रजी विभागाचे विभाग प्रमुख तसेच आयक्यूएसी विभागाच्या समन्वयक डॉ. अ‍ॅनी जॉन यांनी या स्पर्धेचे आयोजक म्हणून काम पाहिले.

डॉ.टी.एन.कोळेकर (दयानंद महाविद्यालय, सोलापूर), डॉ. रामराजा मोठे( सौ.सुवर्णलता गांधी महाविद्यालय, वैराग्य), डॉ.परमेश्वर सूर्यवंशी(माऊली महाविद्यालय, वडाळा), डॉ.सचिन लोंढे (के.एन.भिसे महाविद्यालय, कुर्डुवाडी), डॉ.सागर वाघमारे ( साठे माजविद्यालया, विलेपार्ले, मुंबई) आणि डॉ. सारंगपाणी शिंदे (आमदार शशिकांत शिंदे महाविद्यालय, मेढा, सातारा) यांनी या स्पर्धेचे परीक्षक म्हणून आपली जबाबदारी यशस्वीरीत्या पार पाडली. प्रा. भाग्यश्री पाटील आणि प्रा. कमलाकर रुगे हे तांत्रिक समन्वयक म्हणून आपली भूमिका पार पाडले.

A National Level E-Essay Writing Competition

(An IQAC Initiative)

The Department of English, A.R.Burla Mahila Varishtha Mahavidyalaya, Solapur organized A National Level E-Essay Writing Competition in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college.The competition was organized on the following themes:-

1. COVID-19: The Role of Mass Media during the Pandemic.

2. COVID-19: Socio- Economic Challenges.

3. COVID-19 Lockdown – Its Positive Effects on the Environment.

4. COVID-19: Lockdown - A Time to Introspect.

5. Pandemic Crisis: Lessons for the Future.

We got an overwhelming response from all over India and as a result received a total of 86 essays.

Shrey Gosavi (V.G.Vaze College, Mulund) won the First Prize, Supriya Yalameli (A.G.Patil Institution of Polytechnic, Solapur) won the Second Prize, Manali Desai (Modern College of Engineering, Pune) won the Third Prize as well as Roshni De'Souza (Modern College of Engineering, Pune) and Esha Saradgikar (N.B.Navale College of Engineering, Solapur) have won the Consolation Prizes respectively.

Nature of the Prizes:

First - 1000/- & E-Certificate

Second- 500/- & E-Certificate

Third- 300/- & E-Certificate

Consolation No.1- 200/- & E-Certificate

Consolation No.2- 200/- & E-Certificate

Principal of the College Dr. Rajendra Shendage has congratulated all the winners and participants and wished them for their future endeavors. Coordinator of IQAC Convenor of this competition Dr. Annie John appreciated the participants for their efforts. Dr. T.N. Kolekar (D.B.F.Dayanand College of Arts & Science Solapur) , Dr. R.V. Mote (Sau Suvarnlata Gandhi College, Vairag), Dr. P.L.Suryavanshi (Mauli Mahavidyalaya, Wadala), Dr. S.S.Waghmare (Sathey College, Vile Parle, Mumbai) , Dr. Sachin Londhe (K.N Bhise College of Arts & Science, Kurduwadi) and Dr. Sarangpani Shinde (Amdar Shashikant Shinde Mahavidyalaya, Medha, Satara) successfully played their role as the examiners of this competition. Miss.Bhagyashri Patil and Mr. Kamalakar Ruge were technical coordinators of the same.

Dear Sir/Madam,

The COVID-19 Pandemic continues to put the world on hold. Students are at home, missing out on the social activities they are used to. This competition will help students to use this time creatively and will give them an opportunity to use the present situation for creative writing.

Within this framework, we have organized through online mode.

You are requested to forward this file to your students and inform them to write essays on various themes given in the brochure.

• The essay competition is open to all UG & PG students of any faculty studying in any college/university of India.

• The content for the competition should only be in English.

• The contestants should send their submissions before 25th May 2020.

• The Essay should be typed in Times New Roman with font size 12 and 1.5 line space (Maximum 2000 words).

• The Essay should be original and free from plagiarism.

• The toppers who secure the first three places will be honoured with cash awards of Rs 1000/-, 500/- & 300/- and E-Certificates will be given to all the participants respectively.

• Results will be declared on 05th June 2020.

• Students have to send their personal details including *Title of the Essay, Name of the Contestant, City/Residence, Age, Gender, Email, Mobile Number and College and University Name.

• The Principals/teachers can forward essays written by their students.
