The Department of Botany successfully conducted a hands-on workshop on Fungal Culture Techniques on 16 October 2025. Students learned the complete procedure of PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) preparation.
They were also trained in sterilization techniques using the autoclave to ensure contamination-free media. Furthermore, students practiced aseptic inoculation of fungal samples onto PDA plates, learning proper handling of inoculating tools, flame sterilization, and safe working conditions inside the laminar airflow cabinet.
The workshop provided valuable exposure to fungal isolation, culture maintenance, contamination control, and essential microbiological skills. Overall, it was a highly enriching and informative experience for all participants.

The Department of Botany successfully conducted a field visit to the Dragon Fruit Farm. The experience was truly enriching and joyful for our students. They gained valuable knowledge about dragon fruit and banana cultivation, compost preparation, the benefits of organic manure, and practical insights into organic farming techniques.

We are grateful to Mr. Rohit Singh, the engineer and farm owner, who warmly welcomed our students. He generously offered freshly harvested bananas and dragon fruits to all the students and also served them delicious traditional desi food — dal, rice, and chutney.

Overall, it was a wonderful, informative, and engaging experience that provided meaningful exposure and hands-on learning to our students.

The Department of Botany organized a hands-on workshop on Herbarium Techniques on 6 October 2025. Students also visited the campus area for field exploration and gained practical training in the scientific method of plant collection for herbarium preparation. During the workshop, students learned proper techniques of pressing, drying, mounting, and labeling specimens. The campus field visit provided real-time exposure to plant identification and ethical collection practices. Overall, the session was highly informative and enhanced the students’ practical understanding of herbarium science.

Under the grand celebration of “Hrdyotsava”, the Faculty of Science proudly organized Synthetica, a vibrant event showcasing innovation, creativity, and scientific spirit. ✨

As part of this celebration, the Department of Botany conducted a series of engaging events — Plant Sketching, Nature Photography, and Tattoo Making. 🎨📸🌱

A large number of students from classes 9 to 12 enthusiastically participated, expressing their creativity and love for nature through art and imagination. The event provided a perfect platform for young minds to blend science with aesthetics. 💚

A wonderful day unfolded at Sacred Heart Degree College as part of the paddy harvesting activity, an inspiring initiative taken by Rev. Father Saji.
Under this initiative, our respected Principal, Rev. Father Prasant, along with faculty members and students, participated enthusiastically in the harvesting process. The fields came alive with joy, teamwork, and a deep sense of connection with nature.
This hands-on experience offered our students valuable lessons on sustainability, teamwork, and the dignity of labour — learning truly beyond the classroom walls.

Workshop on “Enhance Your Knowledge with SWAYAM-MOOCs”
The Research and Publication Committee of Sacred Heart Degree College, Naipalapur Sitapur, in collaboration with IQAC, organized an enriching workshop for second and third-year students of B.Sc. (Math & Bio), BBA, BCA, and B.Com streams on 13th August 2025 at SHIMT Hall.
The session aimed to:
Introduce students to the world of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
Demonstrate the use of the SWAYAM platform for academic growth
Promote self-paced and affordable learning opportunities
The workshop successfully inspired students to explore new-age learning tools and enhance their knowledge beyond the classrooms.

Heartians were privileged to attend an enriching interactive session with eminent professors on Leadership, Innovation, and Global Trends & Challenges in Higher Education with NEP-2020.
Prof. Ved Prakash, Former UGC Chairperson, shared valuable insights on modern teaching-learning approaches and the evolving mentor-mentee relationship as keys to impactful outcomes and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Prof. Vimal Rarh, Director, UGC-MMTTC, highlighted global trends, skill development, and the transformative role of NEP 2020 in reshaping education beyond traditional classroom methods.
A truly thought-provoking session that inspired reflection on the future of education.

On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day (July 28), the Environment Committee of our college took a green step forward by organizing a Paddy Planting Drive right on our campus! 🌱

Multiple varieties of paddy were planted by enthusiastic students of all the departments and faculty members to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental awareness. This initiative not only connects us to our roots but also serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving biodiversity and nurturing our natural resources.

The process from flower to fruit is a metaphor for transformation and growth, highlighting the idea that change and development are inherent in the natural world. The journey of the mango flower to fruit is not just symbolise the change; indoctrinate us about creating a foundation for long-term success, sustainability, Shifting from a negative mindset to a positive one, developing new skills, or changing unhealthy habits.
The orchards of SHDC are full with the panicles of tiny mangoes.
