10 tips for Post-pregnancy weight loss:

Save for reference & Share !

1. Breastfeeding: Breastfeeding burns calories as your body produces milk, helping you shed some extra pounds. It also releases hormones that aid in uterus contraction and weight loss.

2. Not Starving or Skipping Meals: Skipping meals or extreme dieting can slow down your metabolism, making it harder to lose weight. Eating regular, balanced meals keeps your metabolism active.

3. Balanced Diet: Consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains provides essential nutrients without excess calories, supporting gradual weight loss.

4. Portion Control: Monitoring portion sizes helps prevent overeating, ensuring you're not consuming more calories than you need to maintain your weight.

5. Rest/Sleep: Adequate sleep is crucial for hormonal balance and overall health. Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain, so getting enough rest supports your weight loss efforts.

6. Postpartum-Friendly Exercise: Engaging in safe and gradual postpartum exercises helps tone muscles, increase metabolism, and burn calories. Consult with a healthcare professional for appropriate exercise recommendations.

7. Hydration: Drinking enough water helps control appetite, prevents dehydration, and supports metabolic processes involved in weight loss.

8. Fiber-Rich Food: Foods high in fiber, like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, promote feelings of fullness and can help control your calorie intake.

9. Healthy Snacking: Opt for nutritious snacks like yogurt, nuts, or fruits to curb cravings and avoid high-calorie, sugary snacks.

10. Realistic Weight Loss Goals:Setting achievable, gradual weight loss goals ensures you're not putting unnecessary pressure on yourself. It's important to prioritize your health and well-being during this postpartum period.

Combining these factors in a balanced and sustainable way can contribute to a healthy and gradual post-pregnancy weight loss journey.

DO NOT SQUEEZE !!! the discharge

1. Ni**le discharge aka Witch milk
2. Vaginal Discharge or spotting

- Ni**le discharge is common in newborns irrespective of their gender due to maternal estrogen prevalent through placenta (in womb) or breast milk (after delivery)

- Subsides on its own in few days or first few weeks of life.

- It is extremely important NOT to squeeze or express it, which will result in unwanted infections like mastitis in babies.

- No matter whoever insists otherwise, never ever squeeze their ni***es to get the discharge out.

Share it with all the premature baby parents !
๐Ÿ’œ November is Prematurity Awareness Month ๐Ÿ’œ Let's spread love, awareness, and support for premature babies and their families.

๐Ÿซ‚ It's essential to be sensitive and supportive when talking to parents of premature babies. Here are some things you should avoid saying:

1. "Why was your baby born prematurely?" Avoid making assumptions or implying blame.
2. "Your baby is so tiny." Instead, focus on positive comments or offer encouragement.
3. "I know exactly how you feel." Every premature birth is unique, and it's best not to compare experiences.
4. "It's not a big deal; they'll catch up." Minimizing the challenges premature babies face can be hurtful.
5. Offering unsolicited medical advice or home remedies. Leave medical advice to healthcare professionals.
6. "When will they be 'normal'?" Avoid implying that there's something abnormal about a premature baby.
7. "You must be so disappointed." Instead, express empathy and support.

Being understanding and offering a listening ear can go a long way in providing comfort to parents of premature babies.

For the parents ๐Ÿ’— Tips to handle premature babies with care:

1. Keep them warm in an incubator or with skin-to-skin contact.
2. Practice kangaroo care for bonding and comfort.
3. Be gentle during feeding, as preemies may have difficulty in oro-motor coordination, suck-swallow-breathe reflex.
4. Monitor their health closely and follow medical advice.
5. Surround them with love and positivity to help them thrive.

Together, we can make a difference! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’•

I became a Birth Educator because
nobody was there for me when I
needed it most.

Not when I lost my first baby.
Not my second. Not my third.

Not when I was injecting blood
thinners into my own stomach
every single morning.

Not when my skin was peeling
from obstetric cholestasis and
nobody explained why.

Not when I lay immobile for 10
days with a cervical disc prolapse
โ€” 6 months pregnant โ€” terrified.

Not when I had a 8 day hospital
admission for pneumonia and
cried alone every night.

Not when my episiotomy was cut
without anaesthesia.

Not when my stitches got infected
and my own family told me
the pain was normal.

It wasn't.

I found out the hard way.
Every. Single. Time.

And after all of that โ€” when I
started helping other moms โ€”
people questioned whether I was
qualified enough.

So I got certified. Twice.

Not to prove them wrong.

But because every pregnant woman
deserves someone who has not just
studied birth โ€”

but survived it. ๐Ÿ’›

Don'ts of Breastfeeding, Part - 3

While 250 - 300 ml of cow/ animal milk can fulfill your nutritional needs, more than that will actually cause trouble while breastfeeding.

It can cause lactose intolerance in the baby as the mother will produce too much lactose in her milk causing imbalance of foremilk and hindmilk. It can also lead to other gastrointestinal issues in the baby like gas or diarrhea, with possible weight loss or slow weight gain in babies.

It's essential for breastfeeding mothers to maintain a balanced diet for optimal infant nutrition.
