ಕಾನನದ ಬೆಡಗಿ ಸೀತಾಳೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾ?

ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಹಸಿರ ಸಿರಿಯ ನಡುವೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಕು ಮರಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಾಚಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಬಿಳಿ-ನೇರಳೆ ಅಥವಾ ಬಿಳಿ-ಕಂದು ಬಣ್ಣಗಳ ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ಹೂವಿನ ಗೊಂಚಲದ ಮೋಹಕ ತಾರೆ ನೋಡುಗರಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಮುದ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

ಅವಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ವಾವ್‌ ಎಂದು ಉದ್ಗರಿಸದವರು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯರಾಗಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತುಬಿಡುವುದಂತೂ ಖಂಡಿತ. ಮರದ ತುಂಬೆಲ್ಲ ಇಷ್ಟು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಹೂವಿನ ಮಾಲೆ ಪೋಣಿಸಿಟ್ಟವರು ಯಾರು? ಇದು ನಿಸರ್ಗ ಲೀಲೆಯೋ ಅಥವಾ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಹೂವಿನ ಮಾಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ನೇತು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೋ ಎಂದು ಒಂದು ಗಳಿಗೆ ತಬ್ಬಿಬ್ಬಾದರೂ ಅಚ್ಚರಿಯೇನಿಲ್ಲ.

ಮರಬಳ್ಳಿ, ಮರಬಾಳೆ, ಸೀತಾ ದಂಡೆ ಎಂಬೆಲ್ಲ ನಾಮಾಂಕಿತಗೊಂಡ ಕಾನನದ ಬೆಡಗಿ. ಅಷ್ಟು ನಾಜೂಕಾದ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸದ ಹೂ ಈ ಸೀತಾಳೆ. ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಈ ಹೂವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜಾಸ್ತಿಯೇ ಸಮಯ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿತೇನೋ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಬಣ್ಣದಲ್ಲೂ ಸಹ ಹೆಂಗಳೆಯರ ಬಹು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ತಿಳಿ ಗುಲಾಬಿ ವರ್ಣ.

ಬಳುಕುವ ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಈ ಸೀತಾಳೆ ಮಳೆಯ ನೀರಿನ ಸಿಂಚನವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ತನ್ನ ಇರುವಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಸಾಲದೆನಿಸಿದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಸಖಿಯರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವೈಯ್ಯಾರ ಬೀರುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡರೂ ಈಕೆ ಮುಂಗಾರಿನ ಬೆಡಗಿ.

ಮುಂಗಾರಿನ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಮರಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ಹಾಯಿಸಿದರೆ ನಗು ನಗುತ್ತಾ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವ ಈಕೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದಲೇ ಹಾಯ್‌ ಎಂದು ಕಣ್ಣು ಮಿಟುಕಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಈ ಸೀತಾಳೆ ಸಸ್ಯದ ಕಾಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲೆ ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದೇ ತರಹ ಎಲೆಯಂತೆಯೇ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಮರದ ಕಾಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇರುಗಳಿಂದ ಕಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿಂತು ತೊಗಟೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಆಸರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಪರಾವಲಂಬಿ ಈಕೆ !!

ಈ ಸೀತಾಳೆಯ ದಂಡೆಗಳು ಗೊಂಚಲು ಗೊಂಚಲಾಗಿ ಗಿಡಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿಮುಖವಾಗಿ ಜೋತು ಬೀಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಒಂದೊಂದು ದಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೂರಾರು ಹೂವುಗಳು ಮುತ್ತು ಪೋಣಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಿಂತು ಸೋಜಿಗವನ್ನೇ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಜಾತಿಯದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕಾಣುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಒಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂ ಒತ್ತೊತ್ತಾಗಿ ಪೋಣಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರೆ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ದೂರ ದೂರಣಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಂತೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಗಂಡು ಹೂ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಹೂ ಎಂದೂ ವಿಂಗಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಈ ಕಾನನದ ಬೆಡಗಿಗೆ ಸೀತಾಳೆ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಬಂದಿರುವುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕಥೆಯೂ ಇದೆ. ರಾಮಾಯಣದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೀತೆ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಮ ವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಸೀತೆಗೆ ಈ ಹೂವು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಿತಂತೆ. ಮಡದಿಯ ಮನದ ಬಯಕೆ ಈಡೇರಿಸಲು ರಾಮ ಆ ಹೂವನ್ನು ತಂದು ಅವಳ ಮುಡಿಗೇರಿಸಿದ್ದ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಸೀತೆಯ ಮಡಿಗೇರಿದ ವನಸುಮ ಸೀತಾಳೆಯಾಗಿಯೂ, ಸೀತಾದಂಡೆಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಥೆಯಾದಳು.
