Theme: From Science to Global Action: The Ozone Layer for Life

Government JHS Sakyong Chisopani, Singtam observed World Ozone Day 2026 on 16th September 2026 to create awareness among students about the importance of the ozone layer and the need for its protection.
The programme was conducted through an informative awareness session led by Mr. D.K. Gurung and Miss Dichen Sherpa. They explained the significance of the ozone layer, its role in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and the environmental concerns associated with ozone depletion.

The resource persons also highlighted the causes of ozone layer depletion and discussed the importance of reducing the use and release of ozone-depleting substances. Students were encouraged to adopt environmentally friendly practices, conserve natural resources, and contribute towards protecting the environment.
The programme provided students with valuable knowledge about ozone protection and strengthened their understanding of their responsibility towards environmental conservation. The observance concluded with a message that collective awareness and responsible actions can contribute to a healthier and safer planet.

The Conclusion Day of the 15 Days Long Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 was successfully observed at Government JHS Sakyong Chisopani, Singtam, with active participation from the students and teaching staff.

The programme aimed to reinforce the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, environmental protection, and responsible waste management among the students.
During the Pakhwada, various cleanliness and awareness activities were conducted to encourage students to adopt good sanitation practices and maintain a clean and healthy school environment.

As part of the concluding programme, a Certificate Distribution Ceremony was organized to appreciate and encourage students who actively participated in the Slogan Writing and Drawing Competition conducted under Swachhata Pakhwada 2026. The participating students were awarded certificates in recognition of their creativity, enthusiasm, and contribution towards spreading the message of cleanliness and hygiene.

The Programme Coordinator, Mr. Arbin Basnett, GT Science, coordinated the certificate distribution and encouraged the students to continue practising cleanliness in their daily lives. He highlighted that cleanliness is not limited to a campaign but should become a regular habit and collective responsibility.

The School Games 2026 – Block Level Competition, organised under Khamdong B.A.C., was held on 9th September 2026 at Golitar, Singtam. The competition was conducted in the Athletics discipline for the Under-17 Boys and Girls categories, providing young students an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting abilities, discipline and competitive spirit.
Students of Government JHS Sakyong Chisopani, Singtam participated enthusiastically in the athletics events.

The school is proud to report that four students secured different positions in the competition and were awarded certificates in recognition of their achievements.
Their performance brought pride and recognition to the school and reflected the students' hard work, dedication and commitment towards sports. The achievement also highlights the school's continued efforts to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship and holistic development among students.
The school congratulates all four students for their excellent performance and appreciates the guidance and encouragement provided by the teachers and organisers

An Awareness Programme on Adolescence and Wellness was conducted at Sakyong Chisopani Junior High School with the objective of creating awareness among students about the physical, emotional, mental and social changes experienced during adolescence.
The programme was conducted by Mr. Sangam Sharma, Health and Wellness Counsellor, District Hospital, Singtam, who interacted with the students in an informative and engaging manner. He explained the various changes that occur during adolescence and highlighted the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene, healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, adequate sleep and a positive outlook towards life.

The resource person also sensitised the students about mental and emotional well-being, self-esteem, peer pressure, healthy relationships, responsible decision-making and seeking timely guidance from trusted adults and health professionals. Students were encouraged to openly discuss their concerns and understand that seeking help is an important part of maintaining overall wellness.

The session was interactive, and students actively participated in the discussion and asked questions related to adolescence and healthy living. The programme helped students develop a better understanding of the changes associated with adolescence and encouraged them to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyles.

Government JHS Sakyong Chisopani celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September 2026 with great enthusiasm and joy. The programme was organised by the Student Representative Council (SRC) to express gratitude and appreciation towards the teachers for their dedication, guidance and contribution to the overall development of the students.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the Headmaster, teaching and non-teaching staff and students. The SRC members conducted the programme in an organised and enthusiastic manner

A variety of cultural programmes were presented by the students, including songs, dances and other entertaining performances. The cultural presentations created a joyful atmosphere and reflected the talents and creativity of the students.
To make the celebration more enjoyable, several fun games and activities for the teachers were also organised. A Passing the Ball Game was conducted for the female teachers, which was enjoyed with great excitement and laughter. Similarly, a Musical Chair competition was organised for the male teachers, creating a lively and entertaining environment.

Apart from these, several other fun-filled activities and interactive programmes were conducted, allowing teachers and students to participate together and strengthen the bond between them. The students also conveyed their heartfelt wishes and gratitude to their teachers through speeches, performances and gestures of appreciation.
The celebration provided an opportunity for students to recognise the valuable role played by teachers in shaping their academic, social and moral development. The active participation of teachers and students made the programme memorable and successful.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to all the teachers, staff members, SRC members and students who contributed to the successful organisation of the celebration.
