Siliguri Model High School successfully hosted the CBSE District Level Deliberation (DLD) Workshop on Saturday, 12 September 2026, in alignment with the sub-theme, " FOUNDATIONS OF COMPUTATIONAL THINKING (CT) AND AI READINESS for the Target Group - MIDDLE STAGE".
A significant academic initiative that brought educators together to think, deliberate, innovate and transform classroom practices.

The event witnessed the participation of 17 reputed CBSE schools of Darjeeling District, creating a vibrant platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices.

A key highlight was the presentation of 13 case papers by 12 schools, featuring innovative pedagogies and classroom practices that demonstrated how Computational Thinking and AI readiness can be nurtured through problem-solving, pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking, abstraction, creativity and experiential learning.

The deliberation featured case paper presentations by the following participating schools:
SILIGURI MODEL HIGH SCHOOL (SR. SEC.), BSF SR. SEC. RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL, MODI PUBLIC SCHOOL, ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL BENGDUBI, BIRLA DIVYA JYOTI, NARAYANA SCHOOL FULBARI, MAYOOR SCHOOL SILIGURI, JERMEL'S ACADEMY, G.D. GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL, SNOWDROPS SCHOOL , NETAJI CENTENARY SCHOOL, DARJEELING PUBLIC SCHOOL.

Each presentation showcased the efforts of educators to move beyond conventional classroom practices and embrace experiential, innovative, inclusive and learner-centric approaches. The deliberations encouraged participants to critically examine educational practices and explore strategies that can make learning more relevant, engaging and meaningful.

The presentations were evaluated by the esteemed panel of Appreciation Committee namely - SIR MR. EJAZ EMMANUEL SADIQ, Director, Jermel's Academy, MA'AM PROF. NEHA THAPA, Deptt. of Computer Science, Inspiria Knowledge Campus and SIR MR. LAL CHANDRA, Principal , KV GC, CRPF, Kawakhali, whose expert insights and constructive feedback added depth and value to the deliberations.

The gracious presence of MA'AM MRS. R. BINDU AGARWAL ,RECTOR and MA'AM MRS. SIKHA BANIK ,VICE PRINCIPAL, added dignity and significance to the workshop, further enriching the academic deliberations.

Our respected Principal Sir DR. S S. AGARWAL , PRESIDENT, NORTH BENGAL SAHODAYA SCHOOL COMPLEX, DISTRICT TRAINING CO-ORDINATOR CBSE DISTRICT LEVEL DELIBERATION (DLD), PRINCIPAL , SILIGURI MODEL HIGH SCHOOL (SR. SEC.) extended a warm welcome and emphasised the need to equip learners with logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, creativity and responsible AI awareness to thrive in a technology-driven world.He further encouraged educators to look beyond conventional approaches and explore progressive, learner-centric methodologies.

Bharat Mata Abhinandan Divas Celebrated at Siliguri Model High School

Siliguri, September 11, 2026:Siliguri Model High School (Sr. Sec.), in association with the Bharat Mata Abhinandan Sangathan, celebrated Bharat Mata Abhinandan Divas with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on September 11, 2026. The programme brought together distinguished personalities from the armed forces, education, media and various social organisations, inspiring students with messages of patriotism, integrity and service to the nation.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the auspicious beginning of the celebration. This was followed by a captivating solo dance performance by a Modelite, which added grace and patriotic spirit to the occasion.

Adding further charm to the programme, the school choir presented a patriotic song, filling the atmosphere with love and pride for the nation. A soulful solo song was also presented by the school's music teacher, which was warmly appreciated by the audience.

The gathering was graced by several distinguished Chief Guests, including Shri A. K. C. Singh, DIG, SSB; Col. Pankaj Jain, Commanding Officer, Sukna Cantt, Indian Army; Dr. S. S. Teachers’ Day at Siliguri Model High School (Sr. Sec.) was celebrated over two memorable days, filled with love, appreciation, joy, and togetherness.

4th September – A Heartfelt Pre-Teachers’ Day Celebration by the Students

The celebrations began on 4th September, when our enthusiastic students came together to express their love and gratitude towards their teachers. Through beautiful dance performances, soulful recitations, inspiring speeches, and heartfelt song, the students paid a warm tribute to the mentors who guide, inspire, and nurture them every day.

Their thoughtful gestures and vibrant performances reflected the special bond shared between teachers and students, making the day truly touching and memorable.

5th September – Teachers’ Day: A Celebration of the School Family

The Teachers’ Day programme on 5th September commenced with a solemn and graceful flowering and Khada offering ceremony before the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, paying tribute to the great teacher, philosopher, and former President of India whose ideals continue to inspire generations of educators.

The occasion was graced by the presence of our respected Principal Sir, Dr. S. S. Agarwal, Rector Ma’am, Mrs. R. Bindu Agarwal, and Vice Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Shikha Banik. Also present were Mr Akshat Garg Director, Ms. Aksh*ta Garg, Coordinator, and Mrs. Kirti Agarwal, Coordinator, along with our esteemed veteran teachers, Mrs. Shubhra Deb and Mrs. Priyambada Tiwari. Their presence added a special sense of respect, warmth, and significance to the celebration.

Our respected Principal Sir, Dr. S. S. Agarwal, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, reminding the teachers of their important role in shaping young minds and nurturing responsible citizens. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for being a valued part of the SMHS family, emphasising the strong bond that connects every member of the institution. Rector Ma’am, Mrs. R. Bindu Agarwal, and Vice Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Shikha Banik, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the sincere efforts, dedication, patience, and commitment of the entire staff, encouraging everyone to continue their noble journey with passion and pride.

The celebration concluded with a sumptuous lunch, bringing the entire school fraternity together as one happy and united family.
