The 13th Inter-School North Bengal Sahodaya School Complex Quiz Competition – QUIZZAARD 2026 was held with the participation of 17 schools. The Birla Divya Jyoti Senior Quiz Team put up an impressive performance and secured the second position in the competition.

The school was represented by two teams. In the Classes 8–10 Category, the team comprised Aadya Ojha, Durga Chatterjee and Prayan Swaraj Nanda. In the Classes 11–12 Category, the team comprised Shriyansh Chamling, Pratim Biswas and Tarasha Chettri.

Our Foundational learners from Nursery to Class III celebrated Pre-Independence Day at school on 14th August 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

Dressed in simple white kurta-pyjamas with tri-colour sashes, our little ones celebrated the essence of our National Flag.

The day began by paying tribute to the great souls who sacrificed for our freedom, followed by patriotic songs, sensitising talks, poetry recitations and vibrant dance performances.

The spirit of Unity in Diversity was beautifully showcased as our learners learnt about freedom fighters from different parts of the country who came together with one common purpose—FREEDOM!

It was a day filled with love, pride and respect for our Nation, with meaningful takeaways—giving back to the community, putting the country before self, and honouring our rich legacy.

A Free Health Check-up Camp was conducted on 13 August 2026 at the auditorium of Birla Divya Jyoti School, Siliguri, by the Interact Club and Health and Wellness Club in association with Neotia Getwel Multispeciality Hospital and Netra Eye Hospital, Siliguri.

The camp was organised for students of Classes II to VIII. Students of Classes II–IV underwent paediatric check-ups, while those of Classes V–VIII received eye and ENT check-ups.

The Netra Eye Hospital team included Prof. (Dr.) Arup Sengupta, a pioneering ENT surgeon of North Bengal and Sikkim, and Dr. Lopamudra Majumder, a senior Oculoplasty surgeon with over 20 years of experience. Mr. Arya Maity and Mr. Ajay Maity, Optometrists, conducted eye power testing, assisted by the support team.

The Neotia team comprised Dr. Paulamee and Dr. Indrani, Paediatricians, and Dr. Indrasis Roy, Medicine Specialist. The doctors conducted health screenings and offered appropriate guidance to the students.

The camp was a meaningful initiative that promoted preventive healthcare and health awareness among the students and reflected the school's commitment to their overall well-being.

Fruit Salad Activity

The tiny tots of Nursery and Lower Infant enjoyed a delightful Fruit Salad Activity this week, giving them an opportunity to explore and experience sweet, sour and tangy flavours.

Words like big and small, juicy and pulpy, fresh and colourful, yummy and tasty could be heard across the classrooms as our little learners observed, touched, smelled and tasted the fruits.

Some were curious to watch the fruits being washed, chopped and served, while others were eager to lend a helping hand and try it themselves.

It was a wholesome, curious, experiential, colourful and flavourful learning experience that delighted their little senses and encouraged them to explore food in a fun and meaningful way!

The 2nd edition of the Sarala Birla Memorial Commerce and Business Conclave was held on 11 August 2026, bringing together 230 students from Classes IX–XII representing 13 schools from Siliguri and neighbouring regions.

The conclave featured five exciting events—Business Quiz, Mock Stock, Startup Showdown, Mad Ads and Corporate Roadies. The events were managed by Quizzora and judged by professionals from the business and academic fraternity.

The programme was enriched by a motivational address by Principal Ma’am, followed by insightful presentations by Mr. Neerjang Lama of Inspiria and Mr. Ritesh Agarwal, Founder of NEXIS. The event was supported by NEXIS School of Business, Inspiria Knowledge Campus, Global Reach, Chandulal’s Prive, Car Wonder and The Books.

The conclave celebrated the talent and innovation of young minds, with the following students and teams emerging winners:

The Brother Eric Rudrum International Quiz was held at North Point School, Darjeeling on 7 th August,2026 with participation from 41 reputed schools across North Bengal, Sikkim, and Nepal.
Birla Divya Jyoti team advanced to the semi-finals and emerged as the highest-scoring team, securing a place in the finals. In a closely contested final, the team maintained the lead and ultimately emerged Champions, with DPS Fulbari securing the Second Position and St. Paul’s the Third Position.
The victory is a proud achievement of our students.

The Third Edition of the Inter-School Sarla Birla Memorial Knockout Football Tournament was held from 5th to 7th August, 2026, in the school’s football ground. The tournament had 16 teams of renowned schools from Siliguri.
Our school team displayed exceptional determination and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, advancing to the semi-finals after a series of impressive performances. Although they narrowly missed a place in the finals, the team’s spirited effort was highly commendable.
A proud highlight for Birla Divya Jyoti was Ansh Gautam, who was awarded the Highest Scorer Trophy for his outstanding performance.
The Champions Trophy was lifted by Bani Mandir Railway Higher Secondary School, while Jermel’s Academy finished as runners-up and Emmanuel International School secured third place.

Birla Divya Jyoti hosted the 16th Kaizen Open Karate Championship for the second consecutive year on 2nd August 2026, organised by the Kaizen Karate-Do Association. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Ms. Jyotsana Agarwal, eminent advocate and legal practitioner; Mr. Sanjay Tibrewal, Sports and Cultural In-charge of Hindi Balika Vidyalaya and Patron of the Association; Mr. Sandip Ghosal, Vice President of the Kaizen Karate-Do Association; Mr. Abhrojit Ghosh, Manager, UCO Bank; Mr. Sumit Shaw, President, Rotary Club of Siliguri Green, along with other dignitaries.

The one-day championship witnessed the participation of nearly 300 karate practitioners aged 6 to 18 years from Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, and West Bengal. Displaying exceptional discipline, skill, and sportsmanship, the young athletes competed enthusiastically throughout the event. The overall championship trophy was won by the Sikkim team.
