Raja Govinda Chandra Memorial Higher Secondary School, Borkhola, District - Cachar, is one of the oldest School of Assam and was established in the year 1901. It has been the Alma-mater for generations of people of rural areas of the northern part of Silchar sub-division of Cachar District. There is a playground in front of the school and the river Jatinga flows by on the fringe of the school fiel

d. The ranges of the Borail Range Hills beckon at a distance. Late Nandalal Barman, sarpanch of village- Bararampur, Thana - Borkhola, District -Cachar, is the founder of this school. The school was established as an M.E. school in 1901. The school was up-graded into a High School in 1930 and to a H.S. School in 1984. The school is a co-educational institution. The school was the pioneer of English education in the area and in the early decades of the twentieth century (1901-2000). People from a large part of Cachar district received their education here. Credit goes to late Nandalal Barman that he could realize the value of education among the mass even in the days of yore and set up a school to provide English Education to the rural folk.
