The Great Personality, Gem of Assam,Not only a great Singer but also a Great Person , Zubeen Garg also known as " Moromor Zubeen Da " ( Dear Big Brother)left this world on 19th September, 2025 in Singapore.His timeless voice ,his brave personality and his humble nature shall live through us....
Government Dental College, Silchar, conveyed its heartfelt condolence to gem of Assam, Zubeen Garg.
The Principal, teaching and non teaching staff along with the students mourned the loss, followed by lightening of the candles for the peace of the departed soul.
One minute silence was observed by everyone.
Also, in the end, teachers sang one of his iconic songs 'Mayabini' as he wished this song to be played on his death.

To commemorate the legacy of the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Government Dental College, Silchar celebrated the 100th Birth Anniversary of Xudhakanta Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
The inaugural ceremony for the year long celebration was performed on 8th September, 2025.
The celebration started with a solemn floral tribute to the great soul, Dr Bhupen Hazarika by the faculty members and the students.
The students of GDCS, Silchar paid musical homage to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika by performing one of his iconic songs "Asom Amar Rupohi" as a mark of respect and celebration of his artistic legacy.
Also, some of the faculty members delivered some inspiring speeches admiring and praising the great personality, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.

Teacher's Day was celebrated in Government Dental College, Silchar on 5th September, 2025.
The celebration started with the lighting of the lamp in order to pay tribute to our first Vice President of India and a great philosopher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan; followed by an inspiring speech delivered by our Principal madam. Each department and the respective teachers were felicitated by the students. Also, various performances like group songs and dances made the programme a great one.

The Anti-ragging week was celebrated in Government Dental College, Silchar from 12th August to 18th August,2025. As part of the week long programme and events were conducted which began with an orientation speech delivered by our honourable Dr Manjula Das Madam, Principal, GDC, Silchar followed by various activities with the students and faculties taking active participation. Participation and encouragement towards the event and activities by the students and teachers alike made the Anti-ragging programme a huge success.
The events included:
Day 1: Orientation and documentary presentation.
Day 2: Poster and slogan competition
Day 3: Skit
Day 4: Essay Writing competition
Day 5: Logo competition and prize distribution

The 79th Independence day was celebrated in Government Dental College, Silchar.
The Program started with the hoisting of the tricolour flag followed by an inspiring speech delivered by Principal madam. Everyone’s hearts got drenched with feelings of patriotism.
Cultural programs were also conducted by the students of GDCS. The Programs consisted of powerful speech, melodious songs, rythmic dance and heart touching skits.
Lastly, the day ended with a plantation drive in which our honourable Principal madam along with respected teachers and students planted saplings in the college campus marking an excellent act of nourishing our mother earth on this auspicious day.

Raj Bhavan, Assam has been implementing an initiative of The Hon'ble Governor, Assam titled "Governor Assam Pratibha Protsahan Yojana" since 2024-2025 for providing fuly funded coaching, accommodation, food etc at Delhi to deserving aspirants of Assam preparing for the UPSC Civil Service Examination. This scheme is in line with Hon'ble Governor's vision for Viksit Assam through nurturing of talented youth to fulfil their aspirations of clearing the coveted UPSC Civil Services Examination and empowering them to lend their hands in realizing the vision of
Viksit Bharat.
This program which is sponsored by Raj Bhavan, Assam along with partner agency, Arya Pratibha Vikas Sansthan, will provide support to 10 dedicated aspirants offering them necessary • resources and mentorship to excel in both Prelims and Mains of the UPSC Civil Service Examination

International Day of Yoga was observed in Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Silchar on 21st June, 2025.
The “Yoga Sangam” event had a theme of “Yoga for one earth, one health.”
Several activities were held in the event starting with delivering of motivational speeches, live streaming of honourable Prime minister of India and performance of CYP by the people assembled for the event.
Students of each batch from Government Dental College, Silchar too attended the “Yoga Sangam” event for manifesting good health and lives.

The faculties, staffs and students of GDCS came together for the felicitation of our pioneer students(Batch of 2018) who have achieved commendable success in the NEET MDS entrance examination’25. Our respected Principal, Dr Manjula Das presided over the programme and presented the students a memento as a token of appreciation for their achievement.

On 13th June, 2025, peaceful rally was organised by Students’ Union and JDA, SMCH in memory of medical students of BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad who lost their lives in an unfortunate flight accident that took place on 12th June, 2025.
Students from Government Dental College, Silchar also joined the silent candle march in order to pay tribute to the departed souls.
The purpose of this peaceful rally was to pay our deepest condolences and raise awareness about the need for enhanced safety measures in travel and aviation.

Scientific Poster Competition was organised on World No To***co Day 2025 by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, GDC Silchar, under the aegis of Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry. The competition was open to final year students of GDC Silchar, GDC Dibrugarh and RDC Guwahati.
Two teams from GDC Silchar won the 2nd prize and the best poster- Special recognition.

Best poster- Rahul Mandal & team.
Our respected Principal Madam, Dr Manjula Das felicitated the winners and congratulated them on winning this competition.
