Your are invited to attend the 2016 MSc Course in TROPICAL FORESTRY for which we have DAAD scholarships available. The course is taught in English at Technische Universitaet Dresden (TUD), one of the 11 German Universities of Excellence.
Over many decades, the international orientation and socio-economic focus have made this 2-year MSc course unique in Europe. You will benefit from the international background of our research & lecturing scientists who supervise your field research in the tropics. Beside general and socio-economic aspects of tropical forestry, the course includes topics of biodiversity management in forests and agroforestry land use systems. Dear Alumni & Friends,

This year is the 60th year (Diamond Jubilee Year: 1954-2014) of introducing the Undergraduate (UG) Science Education in Gurucharan College, Silchar. In that note, it is nice to write an appeal to our well wishers of Physics Department.

The saying is that, unless we do not take the pledge to rejuvenate our activity in the `Jubilee Year’ of our life, plan meticulously our wish-list for the years-to-come and then act accordingly to materialize the plan, it shows that we have lost our vitality. If these words are important for any individual, then it must be squarely applicable for any educational institution which has its birth, youth, middle-age and death too, unless proper action plan is taken with utmost care. If the sublime beauty of the history of the alma mater brings reverence in our mind, it is our humble duty to formulate its survival strategy in its troubled years for the benefit of the students of future generation. The celebration of the `Diamond Jubilee Year’ should be precisely looked upon from that perspective. It is time to commemorate its 60th year in a meaningful way to reboot the teaching/learning process in the Physics Department, rather than to celebrate it in a festive way. We appeal to the alumni and friends of G C College to come forward and draw a tangible roadmap of this department to revive the class room vis-à-vis lab facility with modern amenities which, we believe, will wake up the spirit of inquisitiveness in the mindscape of students, make them scientifically more creative, and urge them to do experiment with new ideas.
