মানবাধিকার দিবস (১০ ডিসেম্বর) উপলক্ষে রোটারি ক্লাব এবং সরকারি মডেল কলেজ বড়খলার আইকিউএসি-র সাথে রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ যৌথভাবে ১৭ ডিসেম্বর, ২০২৫ তারিখে একটি কম্বল দান অভিযান এবং মানবাধিকার সচেতনতা কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে। এই অনুষ্ঠানটি ধলছড়া কেন্দ্রিয় বিদ্যালয়ের কাছে দুর্গামণ্ডপ এলাকায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল। যেখানে সমাজের দারিদ্র্যসীমার নীচের ৩৩ জন প্রাপককে পশমী কম্বল দান করা হয়েছিল, যার মধ্যে দিনমজুর এবং কৃষকেরা অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিলেন। রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের প্রধান এবং আইকিউএসি-র সমন্বয়কারী ডঃ মফিদুর রহমানের স্বাগত বক্তব্যের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানটি শুরু হয়েছিল।
মানবাধিকারের গুরুত্ব এবং অনুদান অভিযানের ঐতিহ্য সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করেন। একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানের পর, উপস্থিত শিক্ষার্থী এবং অনুষদ সদস্যরা গ্রামবাসীদের মধ্যে কম্বল দান করেন। গ্রামবাসীরা জড়াইলতলা, চন্দ্রনাথপুর এবং ধলছড়ার মতো নিকটবর্তী গ্রামের বাসিন্দা ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সমন্বয়কারী ডঃ সঞ্চুমা গোয়ারী, সহকারী অধ্যাপক, রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ, ডঃ সুরশিখা দেবনাথ, দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত শিক্ষিকা, কলেজের রোটার‍্যাক্ট ক্লাব, ডঃ মৌসোনা নাথ, প্রধান, বাংলা বিভাগ, মিস দীক্ষা দে, প্রধান, শিক্ষা বিভাগ, ডঃ দীপঙ্কর রায়, প্রধান, অর্থনীতি বিভাগ, মিস রোজমেরি লালজারকিম মার, সহকারী অধ্যাপক, অর্থনীতি বিভাগ এবং ৫ম সেমিস্টারের শিক্ষার্থীদের একটি দল, রোটার‍্যাক্ট ক্লাবের সদস্যরা। কলেজের রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের প্রাক্তন প্রধান এবং বর্তমানে
রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ডঃ জেসমিন আহমেদও এই অনুষ্ঠানে ব্যাপক সহায়তা প্রদান করেন। পাঁচ বছর ধরে চলছে কলেজের এই অনুদান অভিযান। যেখানে অনুষদ সদস্য এবং শিক্ষার্থীরা স্বেচ্ছায় এই মহৎ উদ্দেশ্যে অনুদান করেছেন। এই অভিযানের মাধ্যমে, কলেজটি নিকটবর্তী দত্তক নেওয়া গ্রামের দরিদ্র নাগরিকদের নিঃস্বার্থ সেবা এবং সাহায্যের প্রতি হাত বাড়িয়ে দিচ্ছে। ভবিষ্যতে এরকম আরও অনুদান অভিযানে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ আয়োজকেরা। কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ড সাহাবুদ্দিন আহমেদের পথ-প্রদর্শন ও অনুপ্রেরণায় আজকের এই অভিযান সার্থক হয়ে উঠেছে।

প্রতিবারের মত এই বছরেও সরকারি আদর্শ মহাবিদ্যালয় বড়খলা আয়োজন করতে চলেছে "ক্রীড়া কৃতি, 3.0" 2026. এই Annual Sports চলবে 7th January theke 13th January পর্যন্ত। এতে মোট 21টি event থাকবে। অপবাদের শুভেচ্ছা কামনা করি।

The Women's Cell and Internal Complaint Committee, Govt. Model College Borkhola organized an awareness programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (UGC guidelines and ICC) on 3rd December, 2025 at the college campus. The event began with the welcome address by Dr. Suroshikha Debnath, Coordinator, Women's Cell. That was followed by the speech of the Principal Dr. Sahabuddin Ahmed who highlighted the importance of such awareness. Dr. Suroshikha then delivered a short presentation on the issue of sexual harassment at workplace and Higher Education Instition Institutions besides deatailing the various UGC policies, the POSH Act and the Internal Complaint

Committee for grievance redressal. The students became aware about the workings of the Internal Complaint Committee at the college. The significance of a healthy , harassment free campus for the overall development of all was the key message of the event. All the faculty members, Women's Cell members, ICC members and the IQAC coordinator Dr. Mofidur Rahman graced the event besides the students.

A short programme was organised after the FYUGP Odd Semester examination on 26th November 2025 to celebrate Constitution Day with enthusiasm and dignity at the Govt. Model College Borkhola by the Dept. of Political Science, to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and to promote constitutional values among students and college staff.
The celebration began with the formal gathering of the students, faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college. The programme was graced by the presence of the respected Principal of the college, Dr Sahabuddin Ahmed, who delivered a lecture on the importance of the constitution. The other members on the dais present were Dr Rupashree Paul, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Education, Dr Rajesh Chutia, Librarian, Dr Suroshikha Debnath, Assistant Professor, Dept. of English, Dr Sanchuma Goyary, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Political Science. Dr Joydeep Goswami, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Sociology, was the special invitee.
Dr Mofidur Rahman hosted the programme, and Dr Suroshikha Debnath delivered a vote of thanks.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Ahom General, Lachit Borphukan which was held on every 24th November, a vibrant plantation drive was organized on 25th November, 2025 at Govt. Model College Borkhola, coordinated by the NCC in collaboration with IQAC, NSS, College Beautification Cell, and the Disaster Management Cell. The initiative aimed to enhance the greenery of the campus while fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among students.

The program began at 11:00 AM, marked by the planting of the first sapling by the College Principal, Dr. Sahabuddin Ahmed. Followed by Programme Coordinator Ms. Rosemary Lalzarkim Hmar, Assistant Professor and CTO of the NCC Girls of the college, the plantation continues with Dr. Shalim M Hussain, Assistant Professor and NSS Officer of the college. Faculty members, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and students actively participated in planting a variety of saplings across the college premises, contributing to the beautification and ecological enrichment of the campus.

The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from all collaborating units, reflecting the college's commitment to sustainability and community-driven environmental action. The plantation drive concluded with a shared resolve to nurture the planted saplings and continue promoting green initiatives in the future.

Govt. Model College Borkhola and Manab Kalyan NGO signed MoU to work in the field of skill enhancement and to generate new opportunities for the students. The NGO handed over the Internship Certificate to the students of FYUG 5th Semester (Sociology) and handed over offer letter to them to join the projects of NGO after completion of FYUG course.

Govt Model College Borkhola, NCC Girls under 62 Assam Girls NCC Battalion Silchar, experienced a breathtaking display of precision, teamwork, and national pride as they attended a program featuring the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) renowned Sarang Aerobatic Air Display Team on 15th November, 2025. The event, designed to inspire the youth and showcase the might of India’s armed forces, left an indelible mark on the participating cadets.
The Sarang team, which flies the indigenous Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, captivated the audience with a synchronised aerial ballet. Against the backdrop of a clear sky, the four brightly-painted helicopters performed complex, low-level manoeuvres, including the signature ‘Dolphin’s Leap’ and close-formation flying. The jets streaked white smoke trails across the sky, painting intricate patterns that drew loud cheers from the assembled crowd.
For the NCC cadets, the experience was more than just entertainment, it was a potent lesson in discipline and excellence. The program also featured interactive sessions where IAF officers spoke about career prospects and the technical advancements of the force, encouraging the young cadets to look towards the armed forces as a viable and honourable career path. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theoretical training and real-world application, offering the cadets a powerful, firsthand experience of the IAF’s indomitable spirit. Such events are crucial in cultivating the next generation of disciplined leaders and future air warriors from the region.

A one-day Sensitisation Programme on Project Writing was organised for Higher Secondary (HS) students on November 15, 2025, at the Government Model College Borkhola, Cachar, Assam. The event was organised by the Department of Political Science jointly with IQAC, GMCB & Students’ Welfare Committee. The programme was graced by the invited resource person, Dr Dipankar Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Government Model College, Borkhola. The esteemed resource person delivered a detailed and comprehensive lecture on how to prepare and write a proper project that will benefit the students and their prospects.
The other dignitaries present at the dais were Dr Baharul Alom Laskar, i/c, Principal, Government Model College Borkhola and Dr Sanchuma Goyary, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. Dr Sanchuma Goyary delivered a welcome speech, and Dr Baharul Alom Laskar, i/c, principal, delivered a lecture emphasising the importance of project writing and how the programme will benefit the students overall. The programme was also graced by Miss Dikhya Dey, HoD, Department of Education,, who moderated the whole programme. A vote of thanks was delivered by Miss Jasmine Dewry, Assistant Professor in the department of English and Member of Students’ welfare Committee..
The event aimed to equip Class XI and XII students with essential skills in conceptualising, researching, and presenting academic projects, a mandatory component under the AHSEC curricula. Approximately 70 students from the esteemed college participated. Both teaching and non-teaching employees of the college attended the programme.

The Department of Education, Government Model College, Borkhola organised a literacy awareness camping and learning materials donation drive among the people of the twenty five household of Badsha tilla, Dolcherra on 14/11/25 under the guidance of the Principal of the college. Ms. Dikhya Dey, Head of the Department of Education highlights the mission and vision of the programme. Another faculty member of the Department of Education Dr. Rupashree Paul has pointed out the importance of education and develops the literacy rate for the betterment of the society. After that, all the students’ voluntaries of the department introduce themselves with the presentation of earlier successful works under the scheme "New India Literacy Programme (NILP)". At last, learning materials donation drive has successfully completed.One more faculty member of the Department of Economics Ms. Rosemary Lalzarkim Hmar assisted in the donation drive. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ruhit Paul, the student of FYUG fifth semester of the college.

১৩ নভেম্বর ২০২৫ তারিখে সরকারি আদর্শ মহাবিদ্যালয় বড়খলায় এনএসএস সেল এবং বজরং দল জারইলতলার সহযোগিতায় 'বিকশিত ভারতের জন্য নশা মুক্ত যুবসমাজ' শীর্ষক একটি সেমিনারের আয়োজন করে। এই অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ সাহাবুদ্দিন আহমেদ। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সমাজকর্মী শ্রীমতী প্রভা চ্যাটার্জী এবং স্থানীয় সাংবাদিক ও সমাজকর্মী শ্রী সৌমেন পাল। কলেজের এনএসএস প্রোগ্রাম অফিসার ডঃ মোঃ শালিম এম হুসেনের স্বাগত বক্তব্যের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানটি শুরু হয়। এরপর শ্রীমতী চ্যাটার্জি মাদকাসক্তি সমাজ ও পরিবারের জন্য কতটুকু ক্ষতিকর তা তার বক্তব্যে তুলে ধরে। তিনি আসক্তি কীভাবে পরিবার ভেঙে দেয় এবং সমাজকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করে এবং যুবসমাজ কীভাবে এর বিরুদ্ধে লড়াইয়ে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারে সে সম্পর্কে কথা বলেন। এরপর সৌমেন পাল তার ভাষণে সমবয়সীদের মাদকজাত দ্রব্য নেওয়ার চাপ, বস্তুটির প্রতি কৌতূহল, মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য,ইত্যাদি বিষয়গুলি তরুণদের আসক্তির দিকে ঠেলে দেয় এবং এটি কীভাবে স্বাস্থ্য, সহনশীলতা, মেজাজ এবং জ্ঞানকে বিরূপভাবে প্রভাবিত করে তার উপর আলোকপাত করেন। তিনি আসক্তির প্রাথমিক লক্ষণগুলিও তুলে ধরেন, আসক্তিকর পদার্থ গ্রহণের যে কোনও আমন্ত্রণকে কীভাবে 'না' বলা যায় এবং যখনই সম্ভব সাহায্যের জন্য কীভাবে এগিয়ে আসা যায়। এর পরে কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ সাহাবুদ্দিন আহমেদ অধ্যক্ষের বক্তব্য উপস্থাপন করেন। তিনি সমাজে মাদকাসক্তির নানান কাহিনী বর্ণনা করেন এবং তরুণদের আসক্তির কুফল থেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য অভিভাবক ও সমাজের প্রতিটি নাগরিককে ভূমিকা পালন করার জন্য অনুরোধ করেন। এরপর সকল সদস্য বিকশিত ভারতের জন্য নেশা মুক্ত যুব সমাজ গঠনের শপথ গ্রহণ করেন। শিক্ষা বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ডঃ রূপশ্রী পালের ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন এবং জাতীয় সঙ্গীত পরিবেশনের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানটি শেষ হয়।

Govt. Model College, Borkhola (GMCB), as the newly established National Cadet Corps (NCC) Girls Unit under 62 Assam Girls NCC Battalion Silchar held its first-ever formal drill parade on 12th November, 2025. The commencement marks a significant milestone for the college, expanding its commitment to holistic education and youth development in the rural Cachar district.
The parade, featuring 17 enthusiastic girl cadets, demonstrated the unit’s commitment to military ethos, despite the unit being in its nascent stage. The cadets, dressed in crisp uniforms, performed basic drill movements with commendable synchronization, symbolizing the foundational values of the NCC: Unity and Discipline.
The training of the cadets is being overseen by the Care Taker Officer (CTO), Ms. Rosemary Lalzarkim Hmar, whose efforts were highlighted in bringing the unit to operational readiness. Two Permanent Instructors (PI) staff from the 62 Assam Girls NCC Battalion, Hawaldar Damodar and Hawaldar L.Robin Singh, provided hands-on rigorous fundamental instruction in military subjects.
The NCC Girls' Unit at Govt Model College Borkhola aims to empower young women with leadership skills, social responsibility, and a strong sense of national duty. This inaugural parade serves as a powerful inspiration for other students in the region, signaling a new chapter in co-curricular excellence at Govt. Model College, Borkhola.
