A Craft Demonstration-cum-Awareness Programme was inaugurated today at Al Mustafa Educational Trust (AMET), Mashwara, in collaboration with the District Handicrafts Department, Pulwama. The programme is being organized for a period of three days with the objective of creating awareness among students about the rich heritage, importance, and economic value of traditional handicrafts.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the officials and artisans from the Handicrafts Department. During the inaugural session, resource persons highlighted the significance of handicrafts in preserving the cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized their role in generating employment and promoting self-reliance.
A live demonstration of various handicraft techniques was conducted by skilled artisans, enabling students to observe the craftsmanship involved in producing traditional handmade items. The participants were informed about different handicraft sectors, career opportunities, skill development programmes, and government initiatives aimed at promoting handicrafts.
The awareness session focused on the historical, cultural, and economic importance of handicrafts. Students were encouraged to appreciate and preserve traditional art forms and to explore handicrafts as a means of creativity, entrepreneurship, and livelihood.
