Report on Vande Mataram Celebration

1. Introduction & Inauguration
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Degree College, Shopian, organized a vibrant and inspiring celebration on 10th November 2025 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song, "Vande Mataram." The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. Tariq Ahmad, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of English (Incharge Principal). In his inaugural address, he emphasized the profound connection between language, art, and national identity, setting a thoughtful tone for the proceedings.

The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Muzafar, NCC Officer.

2. Objectives of the Celebration
The primary objectives of the event were:

To pay a heartfelt tribute to the legacy and historical significance of "Vande Mataram."

To instill a sense of national pride, unity, and cultural awareness among the student community.

To provide a creative platform for students to express their patriotism and devotion to the nation.

To promote the core NCC values of discipline, leadership, and social responsibility.

Report on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti Celebration

The NCC Unit of Government Degree College Shopian organized a parade to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, observed as National Unity Day, at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian.

The Chief Guest of the event was SSP Shopian, who addressed the cadets and emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and patriotism among youth. He also highlighted the immense contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in unifying India and building a strong and integrated nation.

The program began with a floral tribute to Sardar Patel’s portrait, followed by the National Unity Pledge. Thereafter, NCC cadets of Government Degree College Shopian organized and participated in a well-coordinated parade, showcasing their discipline, leadership, and commitment.

The Associate NCC Officer (ANO), Dr. Muzafar Ahmad Bhat, appreciated the cadets for their enthusiasm and dedication. He encouraged them to uphold the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to continue working towards the unity and progress of the nation.

Report on Nasha Mukt Abhiyan Event

In alignment with the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, a general frisking of students at the college gate was conducted on 18th September 2025 at the Degree College Shopian by NCC Volunteers (10), comprising both male and female cadets. The drive was aimed at ensuring a drug-free campus and promoting a healthy academic environment.

The event was organized under the aegis of the Worthy Principal, who has always extended full support to such initiatives. The motto of the event was: “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.”

The program was coordinated by Dr. Muzafar Ahmad (ANCORD Officer), along with other faculty members, to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the activity.Geo-tagged photographs of the event are appended herewith for record and reference.
