केंद्रीय आलू अनुसंधान संस्थान, शिमला में हर्षोल्लास से मनाया गया 78वां स्थापना दिवस समारोह
भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद–केंद्रीय आलू अनुसंधान संस्थान, शिमला का 78वां स्थापना दिवस समारोह आज संस्थान के सभागार में गरिमापूर्ण एवं उत्साहपूर्ण वातावरण में आयोजित किया गया। समारोह में शिमला संसदीय क्षेत्र के सांसद श्री सुरेश कुमार कश्यप मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे, जबकि हिमाचल प्रदेश विश्वविद्यालय, शिमला के कुलपति प्रो. महावीर सिंह ने विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में शिरकत की। समारोह में संस्थान के वैज्ञानिकों, अधिकारियों, कर्मचारियों, किसानों, विद्यार्थियों तथा अन्य हितधारकों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया।
कार्यक्रम के आरंभ में संस्थान के निदेशक डॉ. ब्रजेश सिंह ने मुख्य अतिथि एवं विशिष्ट अतिथि का स्वागत करते हुए केंद्रीय आलू अनुसंधान संस्थान की गौरवपूर्ण विकास यात्रा, अनुसंधान उपलब्धियों तथा देश में आलू अनुसंधान, गुणवत्तापूर्ण बीज उत्पादन एवं आलू उत्पादक किसानों के हित में किए जा रहे विभिन्न कार्यों पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने कहा कि संस्थान ने वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान, तकनीकी नवाचारों एवं प्रभावी विस्तार गतिविधियों के माध्यम से देश में आलू की उत्पादकता एवं गुणवत्ता बढ़ाने तथा किसानों को उन्नत तकनीकों से जोड़ने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया है।
मुख्य अतिथि श्री सुरेश कुमार कश्यप ने संस्थान के 78वें स्थापना दिवस के अवसर पर सीपीआरआई के वैज्ञानिकों, अधिकारियों, कर्मचारियों एवं किसानों को हार्दिक बधाई एवं शुभकामनाएं दीं। उन्होंने कहा कि लगभग आठ दशकों की अपनी गौरवपूर्ण यात्रा में सीपीआरआई ने उत्कृष्ट अनुसंधान, तकनीकी नवाचार एवं किसानोन्मुखी विस्तार गतिविधियों के माध्यम से देश में आलू अनुसंधान एवं उत्पादन के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान दिया है। उन्होंने कहा कि संस्थान द्वारा विकसित तकनीकों एवं वैज्ञानिक उपलब्धियों का लाभ देश के विभिन्न आलू उत्पादक क्षेत्रों के किसानों तक पहुंचा है, जिससे आलू उत्पादन, उत्पादकता एवं गुणवत्ता में सुधार के साथ-साथ किसानों की आय बढ़ाने की दिशा में भी महत्वपूर्ण प्रगति हुई है। श्री कश्यप ने विशेष रूप से आधुनिक सीड प्लॉट तकनीक को संस्थान की महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि बताते हुए कहा कि गुणवत्तापूर्ण एवं स्वस्थ बीज आलू की उपलब्धता आलू उत्पादन की पूरी श्रृंखला का आधार है।
मुख्य अतिथि ने भारत सरकार द्वारा कृषि एवं किसान कल्याण के लिए संचालित विभिन्न योजनाओं एवं कार्यक्रमों का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि सरकार किसानों की आय बढ़ाने, कृषि उत्पादन एवं उत्पादकता में वृद्धि, गुणवत्तापूर्ण कृषि आदानों की उपलब्धता, सिंचाई सुविधाओं के विस्तार, मृदा स्वास्थ्य संरक्षण तथा कृषि को अधिक टिकाऊ एवं लाभकारी बनाने की दिशा में निरंतर प्रयासरत है। उन्होंने किसानों से केंद्र एवं राज्य सरकार की किसानोन्मुखी योजनाओं का अधिक से अधिक लाभ उठाने तथा कृषि वैज्ञानिकों द्वारा विकसित नवीन तकनीकों को अपनाने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थानों, वैज्ञानिकों, कृषि विभागों और किसानों के बीच बेहतर समन्वय स्थापित कर ही कृषि क्षेत्र को नई ऊंचाइयों तक पहुंचाया जा सकता है।
श्री कश्यप ने वैज्ञानिकों से किसानों की बदलती आवश्यकताओं, जलवायु परिवर्तन, प्राकृतिक संसाधनों के संरक्षण, जल की उपलब्धता, उत्पादन लागत में कमी तथा गुणवत्तापूर्ण बीज की निरंतर उपलब्धता जैसे विषयों को ध्यान में रखते हुए किसान-केंद्रित एवं आवश्यकता-आधारित अनुसंधान को और अधिक प्राथमिकता देने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने हिमाचल प्रदेश सहित देश के विभिन्न आलू उत्पादक क्षेत्रों के विकास में सीपीआरआई की भूमिका की सराहना करते हुए संस्थान से भविष्य में भी देश की खाद्य एवं कृषि सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाने की अपेक्षा व्यक्त की।
इस अवसर पर संस्थान के उत्कृष्ट कार्य करने वाले कर्मचारियों एवं प्रगतिशील किसानों को सम्मानित किया गया। वैज्ञानिक वर्ग में डॉ. दलामु, तकनीकी वर्ग में श्री नीम चंद, प्रशासनिक वर्ग में श्री ओम प्रकाश तथा कुशल सहायक वर्ग में श्री पदम चंद को प्रमाण-पत्र प्रदान कर सम्मानित किया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त शिमला क्षेत्र के उत्कृष्ट किसानों श्रीमती आशा देवी, श्रीमती रीना देवी, श्री लायक राम, श्री जोगेंद्र तथा श्री हीरा सिंह को भी उनके उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए सम्मानित किया गया। मुख्य अतिथि द्वारा किसानों को कृषि उपकरण भी वितरित किए गए।
प्रो. महावीर सिंह, कुलपति, हिमाचल प्रदेश विश्वविद्यालय, शिमला ने सीपीआरआई को आलू की उन्नत किस्मों के विकास तथा वैज्ञानिक तकनीकों एवं किस्मों को किसानों तक पहुंचाने के लिए बधाई दी। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत वर्तमान में विश्व में आलू उत्पादन में दूसरे स्थान पर है और वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान, आधुनिक तकनीकों तथा किसानों के साथ प्रभावी समन्वय के माध्यम से देश शीघ्र ही आलू उत्पादन में प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त कर सकता है। उन्होंने विज्ञान एवं आध्यात्म के समन्वय की आवश्यकता पर बल देते हुए कहा कि भारतीय जीवन-पद्धति में आहार, आचार एवं विचार का विशेष महत्व है। उन्होंने प्रकृति के पांच महाभूतों—पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु और आकाश—तथा मानव जीवन के बीच गहरे संबंध को भी रेखांकित किया और संतुलित एवं स्वस्थ जीवन के लिए प्रकृति के साथ सामंजस्य बनाए रखने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया।
समारोह में राजकीय वरिष्ठ माध्यमिक विद्यालय, फागली, शिमला के विद्यार्थियों ने भी उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम का संचालन डॉ. सोम दत्त द्वारा किया गया। डॉ. आलोक कुमार, संभागाध्यक्ष, सामाजिक विज्ञान, ने धन्यवाद ज्ञापन प्रस्तुत करते हुए मुख्य अतिथि, विशिष्ट अतिथि, किसानों, विद्यार्थियों, वैज्ञानिकों, अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों सहित सभी प्रतिभागियों के प्रति आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने संस्थान की उपलब्धियों को आगे बढ़ाने में सभी के निरंतर सहयोग एवं सहभागिता की सराहना की।
78th Foundation Day Celebrations Held at ICAR–CPRI, Shimla
The 78th Foundation Day of the ICAR–Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Shimla, was celebrated today at the Institute auditorium. Shri Suresh Kumar Kashyap, MP, Shimla, was the Chief Guest, while Prof. Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Scientists, officers, employees, farmers, students and other stakeholders participated in the celebrations with enthusiasm.
Welcoming the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, Dr Brajesh Singh, Director, ICAR–CPRI, highlighted the Institute’s remarkable journey, major research achievements and its continued efforts in potato research, production of quality seed potato and promotion of farmer-oriented technologies. He said that through scientific research, technological innovations and effective extension programmes, the Institute has made significant contributions towards improving potato productivity and quality in the country and connecting farmers with improved technologies.
Chief Guest Shri Suresh Kumar Kashyap said that during its nearly eight-decade-long journey, CPRI has made notable contributions to potato research and production through excellence in research, technological innovation and farmer-centric extension activities. He noted that technologies and scientific achievements developed by the Institute have benefited farmers in major potato-growing regions of the country, contributing to improvements in potato production, productivity and quality, as well as enhancing farmers’ incomes. Shri Kashyap particularly highlighted the modern seed plot technique as an important achievement of the Institute and emphasized that the availability of healthy and quality seed potato is the foundation of the entire potato production chain.
Referring to various initiatives and programmes of the Government of India for agriculture and farmers’ welfare, the Shri Suresh Kumar Kashyap said that the government is continuously working to enhance farmers’ incomes, increase agricultural production and productivity, ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs, expand irrigation facilities, conserve soil health and make agriculture more sustainable and remunerative. He urged farmers to make greater use of farmer-oriented schemes of the Central and State governments and adopt new technologies. He emphasized that stronger coordination among agricultural research institutions, scientists, government departments and farmers is essential to take Indian agriculture to new heights. Shri Kashyap also called upon scientists to give greater priority to farmer-centric and need-based research, keeping in view emerging challenges such as climate change, conservation of natural resources, water availability, reduction in production costs and sustained availability of quality seed potato. Appreciating CPRI’s contribution to the development of potato-growing regions, including Himachal Pradesh, he expressed confidence that the Institute would continue to play a leading role in strengthening the country’s food and agricultural security.
On the occasion, outstanding employees of the Institute and progressive farmers were felicitated for their commendable contributions. Dr Dalamu was honoured in the Scientists category, Shri Neem Chand in the Technical category, Shri Om Prakash in the Administrative category and Shri Padam Chand in the Skilled Support Staff category. Five outstanding farmers from the Shimla region Smt. Asha Devi, Smt. Reena Devi, Shri Layak Ram, Shri Joginder and Shri Heera Singh were also felicitated for their notable contributions. Agricultural implements were distributed to the farmers by the Chief Guest.
Guest of Honour Prof. Mahavir Singh congratulated CPRI for its contributions to the development of improved potato varieties and the dissemination of scientific technologies and varieties among farmers. He observed that India is currently the world’s second-largest potato producer and expressed confidence that, with continued scientific research, modern technologies and effective coordination with farmers, the country could soon achieve the top position in potato production.
Prof. Singh also emphasized the importance of harmonizing science and spirituality, noting the significance of food, conduct and thought in the Indian way of life. He highlighted the deep relationship between human life and the five elements of nature—earth, water, fire, air and space—and stressed the need to maintain harmony with nature for a balanced and healthy life.
Students of Government Senior Secondary School, Fagli, Shimla, also participated enthusiastically in the programme. The event was conducted by Dr Som Dutt. Dr Alok Kumar, Head, Division of Social Sciences, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, farmers, students, scientists, officers, employees and all other participants. He appreciated the continued support and active participation of all stakeholders in advancing the achievements and mandate of the Institute.
