एक सामान्य सपने ले कर जीने वाली लड़की। झारखंड के एक मध्यमवर्गीय परिवार की बेटी, जिसने अभी जीना शुरू भी नहीं किया था कि जला कर मार दी गयी। क्यों? क्योंकि किसी शाहरुख का दिल आ गया था उसपर! उसे बीवी बना कर अपनी झोपड़ी में ले जाना चाहता था। एक पढ़ी लिखी लड़की किसी जाहिल से विवाह का प्रस्ताव क्यों स्वीकार करती? सो मना कर दिया।
शाहरुख को चुभ गयी बात। वही बर्बर मुगलिया सोच! जो पसन्द आ गयी वह मेरी है। खिलजी से लेकर अकबर तक सबने यही तो सिखाया है। किसी अंकिता की इतनी औकात कि वह किसी शाहरुख की बात काट दे? शाहरुख घर में घुसे, पेट्रोल गिराया और जला दिया...
लड़की खुद दौड़ कर आंगन में आई, बाल्टी से पानी लेकर अपने ऊपर उड़ेला... अठारह वर्ष की बच्ची की जीने की लालसा! इस छोटी आयु में मरना कौन चाहता है? अस्पताल में वह हर मिलने वाले से एक ही बात पूछती थी- "मैं बच तो जाऊंगी न?"
पर नहीं बची। नब्बे फीसदी जल गई थी, कैसे बचती? जीवित जला दी गयी लड़की की पीड़ा कोई नहीं समझ सकता। कितना तड़पी होगी... और उसके तड़पने से कितना खुश हुआ होगा शाहरुख न! इसी लिए तो जलाया था। कहता था- मेरी न हुई तो तड़पा कर मारूंगा!
कोई नेता, पत्रकार उससे मिलने अस्पताल नहीं गया। क्यों जाता? राजनीति लायक मुद्दा नहीं था न! मर गयी तो मर गयी... यह राजनीति और पत्रकारिता की संवेदना का स्तर है।
आप सोच कर देखिये, शाहरुख भी तो जानता होगा कि इसके बाद पकड़ा जाएगा और जिंदगी जेल में सड़ते हुए कट जाएगी। पर नहीं! वह जानता है कि उसके जैसे दस शाहरुखों ने यदि दस अंकिताओं को जला दिया, तो ग्यारहवीं अंकिता किसी शाहरुख को मना नहीं कर पायेगी। वह अपने मिशन में सफल है। यही उसकी विजय है। पूरा खेल खौफ फैलाने का है...
वह यह भी जानता है कि उसके मुद्दे पर न कोई नेता विरोध करेगा, न किसी टीवी चैनल पर डिबेट होगा। उसको बचाने के लिए फंडिंग होगी और सम्भव है कि कुछ वर्षों में वह जेल से बाहर आ कर सुखी जीवन जीने लगे। इस देश में ऐसा होता रहा है।
शाहरुख अंकिता के पीछे बहुत दिनों से पड़ा था। वह कई बार उसके घर जा कर धमका चुका था। हर बार अंकिता के पिता उसे समझाने का प्रयास करते और छोड़ देते। यकीन कीजिये, उसके पिता की इसी अति-सहिष्णुता ने अंकिता की जान ली। यदि वह पिता उसी समय पुलिस के पास जाता, राजनैतिक संगठनों के पास जाता, तो सम्भव था कि आज लड़की जी रही होती। पर किसी भी तरह चुपचाप मामले को सुलटा लेने के भाव ने अंकिता को मार दिया। यह कठोर सच है कि हमारे देश में बेटियों से जुड़े मामले में इस तरह की निर्लज्ज चुप्पी आम है।
आप देखियेगा, केस चलेगा तब शाहरुख की माँ मीडिया में आ कर कहेगी- "हम बहुत गरीब हैं। मेरा बेटा ही कमाने वाला है। उसे छोड़ दिया जाय!" देश की बौद्धिकता उछलने लगेगी, आधी रात को कोर्ट खुलने लगेंगे। सब उसकी ओर खड़े हो जाएंगे। अंकिता की पीड़ा किसी को याद नहीं रहेगी।
जिस देश में कभी एक महारानी की प्रतिष्ठा पर पूरा राज्य बलिदान दे जाता था, वह देश अब बेटियों की सुरक्षा करना तक भूल गया है। इस देश का इससे अधिक दुर्भाग्य कुछ भी नहीं कब सुरक्षित होंगी हमारे देश की माताएं बहनें !
