On 30 December 2025, a firing camp was organized at the Sairi Forest Range under the aegis of 7 HP Independent Company NCC Unit, Shimla, in which 12 cadets of DAV Mahatma Anand Swami Public School, Totu participated. During the camp, the cadets gained a better understanding of the technical aspects and finer points of firing.

From 7 HP NCC Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Praveen Thakur, JCO Som Dutt, and other firing instructors were specially present on the occasion. The cadets were sent to the firing camp under the guidance of the school ANO, Noval Thakur, and Mr. Vikas.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Jeevan Jyoti, extended her best wishes and blessings to the cadets and stated that such activities boost students’ morale, inculcate a sense of patriotism, and contribute to their all-round development. She emphasized that the primary objective of the school is to ensure the holistic development of children and to shape them into responsible and empowered citizens.

During the firing camp, the cadets enthusiastically showcased their talent and determination in marksmanship. Impressed by their excellent performance, the firing instructors assured that the cadets would be given opportunities to participate in upcoming higher-level NCC firing competitions.

Dry firing training was imparted to NCC cadets on the school premises in preparation for the firing camp scheduled to be held on 29th and 30th December 2025. The training was conducted under the supervision of the school ANO, Mr. Noval Thakur, in the presence of Subedar Mehar Chand and Havaldar Pitambar, who had arrived from the NCC unit. On this occasion, Mr. Vikas, Lecturer in History, Havaldar Pitambar, and JCO Som Dutt were also present. During the training session, cadets were provided with detailed information about various firing positions and the correct methods of handling and firing weapons, ensuring that the upcoming firing camp could be conducted smoothly and successfully. A total of 14 NCC cadets from the school will participate in the firing camp. The primary objective of this training is to equip cadets with essential skills to protect themselves and others in emergency situations in the future.
On this occasion, the school Principal, Mrs. Jeevan Jyoti, extended her best wishes to the cadets for the forthcoming firing camp. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the NCC officials present and requested them to continue providing such valuable training to students in the future. She also blessed the students and wished them a bright and successful future. The school remains committed to the all-round development of students and to inculcating a strong sense of discipline and patriotism among them.
