The NSS camp ended on 17 December 2019. The camp was 7 day long with each day having a different activity. On the first day, the blood donation camp was organised in which the students actively particied. Day two comprised of training the students in Disaster Management. On day three, a presentation on Breast Cancer by Dr. Manish Gupta, Professor and Head of Department of Radiation Oncology, Cancer Hospital, Shimla gave insight into the facts and the preventive measures against cancer including modifications in lifestyle and early screening. On the same day, all the NSS volunteers also participated in a Zumba session conducted by Zumba Instructor Ms. Vasundhara Sharma, who is also an alumna of the College. Zumba is helpful in achieving good mental and physical health. The Zumba Activity was thoroughly enjoyed by all. On 14 December, 2019, the Day 4 of the NSS Camp began with an assembly conducted by Group 3 NSS Volunteers. They sang a hymn and gave the thought of the day.
As part of the collaboration of NSS Himachal Pradesh with Kerala, the assembly was followed by a learning session of Malayalam language. This session was led by Merin Josey, a student of BA English (Honours) of the college who is also a native of Kerala. The students were taught basic communication words and phrases in Malayalam.
Later, the students were shown a short documentary on Kerala, which was very interesting and informative. In the afternoon session, the NSS Volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive and finally ended the day. Next, there was a Yoga session was organised for all the NSS Volunteers. This was led by Dr. Satyaprakash Pathak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Yoga, Faculty of Social Sciences, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He taught the students some very useful asanas which focussed on rapid breathing and movement of various parts of the body like the neck, spine and the joints.
The Yoga session was followed by a very interactive, eye opening and informative session conducted by Advocate Sheetal Vyas, who is also an alumna of our College. She enlightened us with her views on women safety, women rights and different initiatives made by government to safeguard women rights. Besides that she also notified us with how women misuse their rights and abuse the law. The students really enjoyed the lecture and were overwhelmed to be a part of such a good session. After the lunch the NSS Volunteers led a cleanliness drive and with this the Day 5 of the NSS Camp ended. On Day 6, a lecture was organised for the NSS Volunteers which was delivered by Dr. Ravi Bhushan from the Department of Psychology, St. Bede's College. He spoke on the importance of family functioning with respect to individual development. There was an interactive session with the Principal Dr. Nandini Pathania. She conducted various activities and games which the students really enjoyed. She shared various short stories , telling the students the importance of self love , self awareness and self acceptance. The Day 7 of the NSS camp which was also the closing ceremony, began with the welcome of our Chief Guest, Mr. Om Prakash Sharma.The event began with a short prayer dance by Arushi. The prayer dance was followed by a PowerPoint Presentation on the 6 Days Report of the NSS Camp conducted by Preksha Ahuja and Kavita Sharma .There were an array of events which included a Nepali dance, a nukkad natak based on healthy and sustainable environment. Then the Chief Guest enlightened the students by making them aware of the widespread drug racket especially in Himachal Pradesh. The program ended with the traditional folk dance naati.
