The ancient Khasi worldview of mankind (Hynñiewtrep) is being compromised by rigid tenets and ethnocentric perceptions from those claiming to represent a "pure" Khasi race. Regardless of the father's community, children of a mother from any racial background belong to a maternal clan as long as they adhere to matrilineal practices and reject any patriarchal imposition from either parent. This perspective underscores the resilience of Khasi and other matrilineal traditions, affirming that maternal lineage is crucial in defining identity, allegiance, and community affiliation.
