Women's College, Shillong, and the Heart Care Society of Assam (HCSA) organised the 'Women's Heart Matters: Heart Care Awareness Programme' today to raise awareness about women's heart health.
The audio‑visual presentation was delivered by Dr. Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee, Founder and President of HCSA, who elaborated on the physiological aspects of heart health, particularly the risks faced by women. An interactive session followed, allowing the students to engage with the dignitaries on various aspects of heart care.

The 61st edition of the esteemed pageant will witness her competing alongside representatives from all 29 states, as well as a collective delegate for the Union Territories.

To mark World Social Work Day on 17th March 2026, the Department of Social Work of Women's College, Shillong had the privilege of hosting Ms. Monica Kramsapi, a distinguished alumna, as the Resource Person for the program.
Ms. Kramsapi currently serves with the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority and the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency, where she heads the training and development vertical. Her work is centered on building capacity and strengthening skill development initiatives across the region.

Ms. Shima Modak, founder of SPARK, shared powerful insights from her grassroots work combating human trafficking, emphasizing that real change happens at the community level.

Today, on November 19, 2025, we successfully concluded the National Workshop on 'Research Methodology & The Research Process in Social Sciences'. The program ended with a final technical session followed by a valedictory ceremony. The workshop, held from November 10th to 19th, 2025, has been a notable initiative of Women's College, Shillong, bringing together a diverse group of eminent academicians.

Over the past ten days, the sessions provided a comprehensive exploration of the research landscape. The curriculum was thoughtfully designed, moving from the core philosophical foundations of social science inquiry to advanced, hands-on methodological techniques. Participants engaged with critical topics such as quantitative and qualitative analysis, feminist methodology, ethnographic study, focus group discussions, archival research, and the essential skill of academic writing and data interpretation.

This workshop stands as a significant contribution to strengthening scholarly research, equipping participants with a robust and reflexive understanding of the entire research process. It was a collective endeavor to reaffirm the integrity, purpose, and transformative potential of the college's scholarly mission.

The National Workshop on Research Methodology & The Research Process in Social Sciences commenced today with a formal inaugural session.
The event was honoured to have Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest. We extend our sincere gratitude for her esteemed presence and insightful address.
We were also privileged to have Prof. C. A. Mawlong, Professor, Department of History and Dean, School of Social Sciences at NEHU, deliver the Keynote Address, which set a profoundly thoughtful and engaging academic tone for the workshop.

The session successfully inaugurated what promises to be a series of enriching and insightful discussions over the coming days, from 10th to 19th November 2025.

In a significant initiative to observe World Mental Health Day today, the IQAC of Women's College, Shillong, in collaboration with the Deepjyoti India Foundation and 4Front Media, organized a panel discussion titled “Strong Minds, Strong Future: Building Resilience in Youth.” The event underscored the institution's commitment to fostering student well-being. The discussion was moderated by Mrs. Ibankyntiew Mawrie, Editor of 4Front Media, and featured a multidisciplinary panel of experts which included-Mrs. Camelia Doreen, Director of the Social Welfare Department; Dr. Jasmine Lyngdoh, Clinical Psychologist; Dr. Chayanika Sarma, Psychiatrist, Supercare Hospital; Dr. Angira Kar, faculty, Department of History, Women's College; and Dr. Nandy Lyngdoh, MBBS, NEIGRIHMS and Social Media Influencer.
The conversation generated profound new insights into mental health and self-care, offering unique perspectives that ranged from clinical and psychiatric approaches to sociological and youth-centric viewpoints, highlighting the importance of a collective and multi-faceted approach to building a resilient future for the youth.
