96th Birth Anniversary of Revered Shri L. R. Balley Sahib Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm and Dignity

The 96th Birth Anniversary of Revered Shri L. R. Balley Sahibβa distinguished Ambedkarite thinker, renowned author, founder and lifelong editor of Bhim Patrika, a close associate and admirer of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, a leading torchbearer of the Ambedkarite movement, and a lifelong champion of social justice, equality, and human dignityβwas celebrated with great enthusiasm, reverence, and dignity at Shri L. R. Balley Memorial Academy, located in Jaswantpur village, Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on 20 July 2026.
The event was organized by the students and teachers of Shri L. R. Bali Memorial Academy to pay tribute to the extraordinary life, mission, and enduring legacy of Shri L. R. Balley Sahib, whose writings and activism continue to inspire generations committed to social transformation and constitutional values.
The programme commenced with floral tributes to the portraits of Lord Buddha, Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and Shri L. R. Balley Sahib, followed by the recitation of the Three Refuges (Trisharan) and Five Precepts (Panchsheel) in accordance with the Buddhist tradition. To mark the joyous occasion, a commemorative cake was cut and distributed among the students, teachers, and guests, symbolizing unity, fellowship, and shared celebration.
Students of the Academy presented a variety of cultural performances, including speeches, songs, poetry recitations, group performances, and educational presentations highlighting the lives, ideals, and contributions of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Shri L. R. Balley Sahib. Through these performances, the students conveyed powerful messages of equality, education, fraternity, constitutional morality, scientific temper, and social justice. Participants who excelled in the cultural programme were felicitated with awards and certificates in recognition of their talent and dedication.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, the Founder of Shri L. R. Balley Memorial Academy delivered an inspiring speech on the life, struggles, and remarkable contributions of Shri L. R. Balley Sahib to the Ambedkarite movement. He highlighted Bali Sahib's unwavering commitment to social emancipation, education, human rights, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. He noted that through his writings and the publication of Bheeem Patrika, Shri L. R. Balley Sahib played a historic role in disseminating the philosophy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and raising awareness about constitutional rights, equality, and social justice across India.
The Chief Guest encouraged the students to embrace education as the most powerful instrument of social transformation and urged them to follow the ideals of Lord Buddha, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and Shri L. R. Balley Sahib by becoming responsible, enlightened, and compassionate citizens dedicated to building a just and inclusive society.
The programme was efficiently and gracefully conducted by Shri Rajiv Kumar Gautam, whose skilful moderation ensured the smooth and successful ex*****on of the event.
On this occasion, all regular students of the Academy were presented with stationery items, textbooks, and other educational materials as a gesture of encouragement and support for their academic journey. Parents and guests appreciated this initiative, recognizing it as a meaningful contribution to promoting quality education among young learners.
The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to uphold and promote the ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity, constitutional values, and social justice championed by Lord Buddha, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and Shri L. R. Balley Sahib. The celebration served not only as a tribute to an eminent Ambedkarite scholar and social reformer but also as an inspiring occasion for strengthening awareness of education, equality, and the enduring relevance of Ambedkarite thought.
The event ended with a vote of thanks, leaving participants inspired to continue working toward an educated, egalitarian, and compassionate society in accordance with the ideals for which Shri L. R. Balley Sahib dedicated his life.
