Subject: Need for people’s movement for the clean Yamuna
Dear Editor
I am Radha G, member of NGO AWAAZ. I am writing to you in order to highlight the deteriorating condition of the river Yamuna.
The city of Delhi is getting contaminated water from the river Yamuna. The residents are to be blamed for this. They pollute the river with garbage, sewage, and filth. The river water is full of bacteria, plastic, chemicals, and other waste materials. It is unfit for consumption.
The people have been demanding a Water Treatment Plant. The authorities have not yet responded to the repeated requests.
I request you to highlight the problem in your newspaper and arouse public interest. We all need to get together in order to get the plant set up in the area.

*Colours of Women's day..

Did you know there are also colours for the day. The three colours are purple, green and white. Purple signifies justice and dignity, green symbolizes hope and white represents purity, which was slightly married by controversy. The colors originated from the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the UK in the year 1908.
Not many may be aware that International Women's Day is not specific to any country, group or organisation. The day belongs to women everywhere. Let us identify, celebrate and increase visibility of women's achievements! There is a dire need for increased awareness through meaningful narratives, resources and activities to combat gender bias and discrimination. We cannot be complacent. We all should play our part in bringing gender parity. We wish a very Happy Women’s Day to all the ladies out there..

Why we celiberate international women's day

It was during 1908 that there was an ongoing critical debate amongst women regarding their oppression and inequality. The campaign for change started to become more vocal when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pays as well as voting rights. In 1909, the first Women's Day was observed across United States. In 1910, International conference of working women was held in Copenhagen. That's where the idea was proposed by Clara Zetkin, a leader of the Women's Office for the Social Democratic Party in Germany. In 1911, International Women's Day was honoured for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on 19 March. Between 1913 and 1914, women in Russia observed their first Women's Day on February 23. Later, it was decided that March 8 can the globally accepted day to celebrate IWD. International Women's Day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations in 1975.

जिस कुल में स्त्रीयाँ पूजित होती हैं, उस कुल से देवता प्रसन्न होते हैं। जहाँ स्त्रीयों का अपमान होता है, वहाँ सभी ज्ञानदि कर्म निष्फल होते हैं।
जिस कुल में बहू-बेटियां क्लेश भोगती हैं वह कुल शीघ्र नष्ट हो जाता है। किन्तु जहाँ उन्हें किसी तरह का दुःख नहीं होता वह कुल सर्वदा बढ़ता ही रहता है।

A Short Story on Self Confidence

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out.

Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said.

After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

“I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

“I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller.”

And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

In Singapore on this day in 1915, Indian soldiers launch the first large-scale mutiny of World War I.

Some 800 soldiers in the Indian army’s 5th Light Infantry Brigade broke out of their barracks on the afternoon of February 15 and killed several British officers before moving on to other areas of the city. By the time the revolt was quashed, several days later, by British, French and Russian troops, the mutineers had killed 39 Europeans—both soldiers and civilians. British soldiers executed 37 of the mutiny’s ringleaders by gunfire.
