The famous Seraikella Chhau Mask Maker Shilpa Kushal Prashanna Kumar Mahapatra (Late). He was awarded the title Shilpa Kushal adept in painting by the Maharaja of Seraikella State and conferred with Sarangdev Fellow by Sur Sringar Samsad in Mumbai 1981. He was also invented Seraikella Chhau Mask. Late Prashana Kumar Mahapatra's dream was to see his small academy Sri Jagannath Art School in Seraikella flowering into a school that would preserve this art.
Sushanta Kumar Mahapatra worked as an instructor in Sri Jagannath Art School
Seraikella from 1978 to 1983 under the guidance of his Uncle Late Shilpa Kushal
Prashana Kumar Mahapatra.
Sushanta Kumar Mahapatra is a Traditional Seraikella Chhau Mask Maker.
Belonging to a Traditional Gharana. A Mask Making is a continuous process often
passing down from father to son as a family tradition. SushantaKumarMahapatra is one such revered mask makers from Jharkhand India. Who has been conferred
with several recognitions and awards by the Government as well as by different
organizations for this work. Sangeet Natak Academy New Delhi Provided Senior
Guru in Guru Shisya Parampara and related to project of support to Seraikella
Chhau Mask Making since the year 2000. He has exhibited his works across the
countrys in various festivals including the Republic Day parade 1992 at the end of
which he had the honor of presenting a mask to the President of India Shri R.
Venkataraman. His hand made Seraikella Chhau Mask presented to Ministers IAS
and IPS in different occasion. His hand made Seraikella Chhau Mask of Sri Krishna was also presented to Honorable President of India Shri Pranab Mukharje by Ex Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Arjun Munda in Rastrapati Bhawan 13th April
2017 and Chief Minister of Jharkhand
Sri Raghubar Das was also presented
"Seraikella Chhau Mask of Sri Krishna" to Honorable Prime Minister of India Sri
Narendra Damodar Das Modi on date 06 May 2019 at Chaibasa. He has
travelled widely in the capacity of teacher conducting workshops and displaying
his works in New York U.S.A., Paris, Berlin Germany and Japan in 1996 ACHIEVEMENTS

4. Received the Singhbhum Shilpa Samman 2006 at the Utkal Diwas in Seraikella.

of 2001.
7. Chhau Guru Samman awarded by Deputy Commissioner of Seraikella on Chhau Mohatshav Kharsawan 2014 on 12th June 2014.
8. Seraikella Chhau Best Mask Maker Samman awarded by Chief Minister of Jharkhand Sri Raghuwar Das on Chhau Mohatshav Seraikella 2015 on 12th April 2015.
