How much can I ever truly thank You. How much can I ever truly praise You. A humble beggar at Your door, and You gave me the comforts of kings.

Some lines stay with you long after you read them. These four capture something I have felt every single day of my journey, especially on days when the weight of building something from scratch felt heavier than usual.

Today I want to pause and bow before my Rahbar Guru Dhan Baba Jagroop Singh Ji Maharaj and Satguru Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji Maharaj. Every milestone in this journey, every team member who became family, every franchise partner who trusted the vision, every young life that entered into our institute with uncertainty and walked out with wings, has Their hand behind it.

I came with nothing but intent. They gave me abundance beyond what I asked for. I came with questions. They gave me clarity. I came seeking a livelihood. They gave me a purpose.

There is no repayment possible for a debt like this. Only gratitude, offered again and again, in every decision, every act of service, every moment of humility.

ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੰਗੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਮੈਂ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ-ਰੋਟੀ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ, ਹਰ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਕਾਰਜ ਵਿੱਚ, ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Today, we are celebrating three birthdays that matter more to us than almost anything else in this world. David, Steve, and Suzie are turning another year older, and to me, this day is no different from celebrating any child’s birthday. David is our Blue-eyed Cockatoo son, Steve is our Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo son, and Suzie is our beautiful Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo daughter.

People often smile when I say “my children,” expecting me to correct myself and say “pets.” I never do, because that word has never once felt right for what David, Steve, and Suzie mean to me. I did not choose to raise parrots. I chose to raise a family. We have a big family of macaws, cockatoos, and many more wonderful feathered children. From the way David watches my every move when I walk into a room, to Steve’s little jealous squawks when I give Suzie extra attention, every single day with them proves to me that they feel, they think, they love, and they miss, just like we do. They have moods, memories, preferences, and personalities all their own, and anyone who tells you a bird cannot have a soul has simply never looked into their eyes the way I have, every single morning, for years.

So today is not just about cake and celebration, it is about gratitude. Gratitude for three little souls who chose to trust a human completely, who greet me every single day as if I am the most important person in their world, and who have taught me more about unconditional love than almost anyone else in my life. Happy birthday to my sons David and Steve, and to my darling daughter Suzie. Being your father is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I will spend every birthday from here on celebrating you exactly the way I would celebrate any child of mine.

Everyone claims their product is unique. Most sound exactly the same.

So how do you stand out in a crowded market?

Make your customer experience so good, people can't stop talking about it.

I discovered this the hard way.

When I started, the competition was fierce. Hundreds of businesses, each shouting louder, copying features, slashing prices.

It was chaos.

I could have joined the noise. Instead, I went silent and started listening.

Here's what I heard:

- Customers wanted to feel seen, not just sold to
- They remembered how they were treated, not who had the shiniest brochure
- Small promises kept meant more than big ones broken

So I stopped worrying about being "different" on paper and focused on being unforgettable in person.

Most businesses obsess over a slick website, glossy ads, and the next big launch. I did the opposite. I obsessed over the moment a student walked through the door. The extra call after class. The way we handled complaints, confusion, nerves. I wanted every touchpoint to be a reason for that person to come back, or send another student our way.

Examples?

A student called in, unsure if she even belonged in our course. Instead of another sales script, we talked about her dreams. She signed up, brought three friends, and now recommends us everywhere.

A frustrated parent rang, ready to withdraw his child after a rough week. We invited him for coffee, listened, showed him the classroom. He left smiling, child in tow, and still sends us referrals.

One time, an applicant failed their first interview, crushed. Our team didn't pat them on the back and move on. They sat down, reviewed every answer, role-played the tough questions, built their confidence back up. That student landed the job on their second try. Isn't that what matters?

None of this costs much. But it earns loyalty that money can't buy.

Every market is crowded. Features get copied. Prices race to the bottom.

Experience is the only thing your competitors can't steal.

I used to send all students special Birthday Cards printed with Frankfinn branding and my name on art paper, each signed by me to give a personal touch.

If everyone's offering the same, be the one who delivers more.

Want to see what real customer obsession looks like? Ask your last client what stuck with them after your last interaction. Or better, ask what annoyed them. Fix it.

Here's the real secret:

Word of mouth outperforms any advert. A single happy customer, trusted in their circle, is worth more than a thousand cold leads. When people feel you care about their outcome, not just their money, they'll do your marketing for you.

Too many businesses treat service as a box to tick. It should be your main product.

Every airline chairman I’ve met walked into the room in a bespoke suit and silk tie.
I walked in wearing sneakers.
For over three decades as Founder and Chairman of Frankfinn, I have refused to wear the “uniform” of power. No blazers. No ties. No corner-office costume. Just the most casual, funky, unapologetically me attire - into boardrooms, into airline HQs, into meetings that were supposed to decide the future of my company.
People assumed I didn’t understand corporate etiquette.
They were wrong. I understood it perfectly - and rejected it on purpose.
Because Frankfinn was never built to be another beige, boring, rulebook-following institution. One of our core brand values is REBELLIOUS. And a brand’s values must live in its founder before they can live in its people.
If I wanted 24-year-olds to believe that a career in aviation could be youthful, glamorous, and fun - I couldn’t show up looking like their tax auditor.
So I broke the dress code. Every single time. In front of airline chairmen who’d built entire careers on protocol. In rooms where “appropriate attire” was assumed, not questioned. I sat across from them in my own skin, my own style, my own rules - and I closed the deals anyway.
Because here’s what nobody tells you about power dressing: it’s not the suit that earns respect. It’s the substance behind the person wearing whatever they want.
Conformity is safe. Conformity is forgettable. And forgettable brands don’t build training institutes that shape thousands of cabin crew across a country.
Rebellion isn’t rudeness. It’s clarity. It’s knowing exactly who you are before anyone tells you who you should be.
So to every founder still buttoning up a shirt that doesn’t feel like you, still swapping your identity for a seat at someone else’s table - stop. The table should adjust to you, not the other way around.

तो मैंने हर बार ड्रेस कोड तोड़ा। उन एयरलाइन चेयरमैनों के सामने जिन्होंने अपना पूरा करियर प्रोटोकॉल पर बनाया था। उन कमरों में जहाँ “उचित परिधान” मान ली जाती थी, पूछी नहीं जाती थी। मैं उनके सामने अपनी त्वचा में, अपनी स्टाइल में, अपने नियमों में बैठा - और फिर भी डील पक्की की।
क्योंकि पावर ड्रेसिंग के बारे में कोई आपको यह नहीं बताता: इज़्ज़त सूट नहीं दिलाता। जो कुछ भी पहनने की मर्ज़ी हो, उसे पहनने वाले शख्स के पीछे की असल क़ीमत (सब्सटेंस) इज़्ज़त दिलाती है।

ਕਿਉਂਕਿ Frankfinn ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਬੇਜ, ਬੋਰਿੰਗ, ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣੀ ਸੀ। ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਬ੍ਰਾਂਡ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ REBELLIOUS (ਬਾਗ਼ੀ)। ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਂਡ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਫਾਊਂਡਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਊਂਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ।
ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ 24 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਇਹ ਮੰਨਣ ਕਿ ਹਵਾਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਜਵਾਨ, ਗਲੈਮਰਸ ਤੇ ਮਜ਼ੇਦਾਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ - ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੈਕਸ ਆਡੀਟਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਦਿਖ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਵਾਰ ਡਰੈੱਸ ਕੋਡ ਤੋੜਿਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਏਅਰਲਾਈਨ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੋਕੋਲ ’ਤੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਮਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ “ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ” ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਮੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਆਪਣੀ ਸਟਾਈਲ ਵਿੱਚ, ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠਿਆ - ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਡੀਲ ਪੱਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਾਵਰ ਡਰੈੱਸਿੰਗ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਦਾ: ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਸੂਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ। ਜੋ ਵੀ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਮੁੱਲ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਨਫਾਰਮਿਟੀ (ਇੱਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਬਣਨਾ) ਸੇਫ਼ ਹੈ। ਕਨਫਾਰਮਿਟੀ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਤੇ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਂਡ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਇੰਸਟੀਟਿਊਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਜੋ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਕੈਬਿਨ ਕ੍ਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਾਗ਼ੀਪਣ ਬਦਤਮੀਜ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜਾਣਨਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੌਣ ਹੋ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਉਸ ਫਾਊਂਡਰ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਕਮੀਜ਼ ਬਟਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ, ਜੋ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਟੇਬਲ ’ਤੇ ਸੀਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਬਦਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ - ਰੁਕ ਜਾਓ। ਟੇਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਢਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਟੇਬਲ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ।

So, what's stopping you from using your brand as a launchpad? Tag someone who needs this reminder.

Nobody tells you this, but your brand is a golden ticket.

People act like you're chained to the first business you build.

That's nonsense.

Here's what I learnt the hard way.

I started from scratch in aviation training. No experience. No connections. Nothing but an idea and a borrowed sum.

Did anyone expect me to succeed against 300 veteran-run institutes? Not a chance. Most thought I'd fold within months.

But the moment Frankfinn made a name for itself, everything changed.

I stopped chasing meetings. People started chasing me.

My brand did the work that cold calls and pitch decks never could. Suddenly, the conversations were different. The same people who dismissed me before were now eager to collaborate, learn, even imitate.

Here's the twist: the market only cares about relevance, not your past track record or background. If your brand stands for trust and results, it acts like a master key.

This realisation led me to expand. Aviation was just the launchpad. Next came entertainment. Then corporate training, image consultancy, management consulting, publishing, security, infrastructure...

Each move seemed crazy to the experts. But each time, the brand acted as a bridge. People trusted the name, not just the product.

It took me years to understand a simple truth:
- Brands are portable. Your reputation travels with you, across sectors, industries, even continents.
- A recognised brand buys you patience from clients, respect from competitors, and forgiveness when you experiment.
- The more I diversified, the more credibility I built. It's the opposite of what most business books say.

Everyone will warn you not to lose focus. They'll insist you "stay in your lane." Let them. They're stuck on old rules.

If you build a brand that stands for something real, you can break the rules and set your own.

The bigger the leap, the more attention you get.
The more sceptics you have, the greater your impact when you win.

If you're an entrepreneur or business owner, think bigger. Your brand is not a label for a single product. It's a platform to launch anything you believe in.

Most people underestimate what a trusted brand can do. Don't make that mistake.

Take the risk. Use your brand as your passport.

And when the critics start whispering, remember: nobody remembers the safe bets. They only remember the ones who broke the script.

Look at the big names. Do you think Virgin is still just a record label? Once you have a brand people know, the world stops asking for your CV and starts asking what you'll do next.
