Pope was a Christian missionary who spent many years in Tamil Nadu and translated many Tamil texts into English. His popular translations include Tirukkural and Tiruvachagam. His efforts were recognized by the Royal Asiatic Society in the form of a gold medal. He was the head of the Bishop Cotton Boys School, Bangalore before returning to Oxford. George Uglow Pope was born on 24 April 1820 in Prin

ce Edward Island in Nova Scotia. He left for South India in 1839 and arrived at Sawyerpuram near Tuticorin. Pope turned into a scholar of Tamil, Sanskrit and Telugu. He set up several schools and taught Latin, English, Hebrew, Mathematics and Philosophy. He completed his translation of Tirukkural on September 1, 1886. His Sacred Kural contains introduction, grammar, translation, notes, lexicon and concordance. It also includes the English translation of F. Ellis and the Latin Translation of Constanzo Beschi with 436 pages. He had, by February 1893, translated Naaladiyaar. His magnum opus, the translation of Tiruvachakam appeared in 1900. Of this he said: "I date this on my eightieth birthday. I find, by reference, that my first Tamil lesson was in 1837. This ends, as I suppose a long life of devotion to Tamil studies. It is not without deep emotion that I thus bring to a close my life's literary work". The much coveted Gold Medal of the Royal Asiatic Society was awarded to him in 1906. He died on 12 February 1908. He delivered his last sermon on May 26, 1907.

இந்நிலையில் மாண்புமிகு உயர்நீதிமன்ற மதுரை கிளை கொடுத்துள்ள மூன்று பக்க உத்திரவின் சாரகம்சம் என்னவென்றால், எதிர் மனுதாரர்கள் 2 மற்றும் 3 மட்டுமே மேற்படி சபை தேர்தலை 17.06.2018 முதல் 19.06.2018வரை திருமண்டல தேர்தலில் தலையிட கூடாது என்று தான் உத்திரவிட்டுள்ளது.

உயர்நீதிமன்றம் உத்திரவில் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட எதிர் மனுதாரரான *Respondent 1 தூத்துக்குடி - நாசரேத் திருமண்டல நிர்வாகம் TND- Admin 17.06.2018 அன்று தேர்தலை நடத்த எவ்வித ஆட்சேபனையும் இல்லை என்பதே அதன் பொருளாகும்.*

எனவே *நமது தூத்துக்குடி - நாசரேத் திருமண்டல நிர்வாகம் ( TND- Admin)திட்டமிட்டபடி பெருமன்ற தேர்தலை அமைதியான முறையில் நடத்தும்.*

Below are the very few important factors why Thoothukudians opposing Sterlite copper.

1) One person is affecting cancer for every 10 houses through out the whole city.
2) As per the data given by our government ( maasu kattupaattu vaariyam, Tamilnadu via RTA) Sterlite is Tuticorin is the most toxic highly polluted city in India, where as 200 percent exceeding the maximum allowable industry pollution( 60 micro grams)

Due to above these major things, as of now our generation is highly affecting. Since, they are expanding their unit, (which is supposed to run from next 6 months) our generations life time will be damn sure going to be halfer than us.

Hence, we ( Thoothukudians) are conducting a protest on 24th March against Sterlite. So, we requesting our neighbor district peoples & our whole tamilians to support us.

I don't know whether u people aware of it, we( Thoothukudians) are the iniatiators for supporting Chennai jallikattu, koodangalum & kathirama mangalam protests.
So we don't whether u are not aware of it or keep watching till our death.
