💐💐💐 Pongal is one of the most vibrant festivals celebrated in schools, especially across South India. It serves as a wonderful way to connect students with their cultural roots, the importance of agriculture, and the value of gratitude toward nature.
Since today is January 14, 2026, Here is how Pongal is typically celebrated in our school:
☀️Traditional Decor and Atmosphere
🥗Kolam Competitions: The school entrance and courtyards are often covered in beautiful Kolams (intricate patterns made with rice flour) drawn by students and teachers.
🌽Sugarcanes and Turmeric: Classrooms and stages are decorated with bundles of sugarcane, mango leaves (thoranam), and fresh turmeric plants to symbolize prosperity.
👳Traditional Attire: Most of our students, Boys wear Veshtis (dhotis) while girls wear Pavadais (half-sarees) or traditional sarees.
🙏🙏 The Ritual of "Pongalo Pongal"
The highlight is usually the live preparation of the Pongal dish:
🥘Outdoor Cooking: A traditional clay pot is placed on a wood-fire stove in the school courtyard.
🌞The Overflow: When the milk boils and overflows from the pot, everyone shouts "Pongalo Pongal!" This symbolizes abundance.
🌹🌹Distribution: Once the sweet Pongal (Sakkarai Pongal) is ready and offered as thanks, it is shared among all students and staff.

🏵️Orange day celebration🏵️
🔸The students were taken to Sun Indiya Public school (CBSE) for Orange day celebration on 12/12/2025.
🔸The kids got to familiarise and immerse themselves in the colour Orange by wearing orange coloured outfits and eating orange coloured healthy snacks.
🔸To add more fun and to hone fine motor skills the kids were given a tearing and pasting activity. The kids carefully tore orange coloured paper into small bits and pasted them inside a butterfly outline. The tearing action requires brain to hand coordination, thus building on fine motor skills. The repeated action improves concentration too.
🔸Overall it was a fun filled learning experience with the colour Orange for all the students.

Grade 7- The Empathy Walk activity was conducted to help students understand others’ feelings, develop emotional awareness, and build kindness and respect through reflection and discussion

They were asked a series of thought-provoking and light-hearted questions related to emotions, relationships, and everyday experiences.

Students reflected silently on the questions and later shared their thoughts with peers. The activity encouraged them to observe, listen, and empathize with others’ perspectives in a relaxed and supportive environment.

On the occasion of Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s birthday, our LKG students paid a beautiful tribute by singing a song in his honour. Their sweet voices and innocent enthusiasm filled the campus with pride and joy. It was a touching homage to the great poet who inspired generations with his words of freedom, courage, and love.

Theatre Art Festival –Sun Indiya Tots School
Nov, 25

Our tiny tots lit up the stage with colour, confidence, and creativity at our Theatre Art Festival!

Dressed adorably as vibrant fruits, our little performers stole every heart in the audience. Each child confidently stepped forward, introduced their fruit, and shared its benefits in the sweetest way possible. Their expressive dialogues, cheerful gestures, and delightful costumes brought the entire fruit basket to life on stage!

The event was a joyful celebration of learning through drama, expression, and imagination. Our Tots proved that even the smallest voices can make the biggest impact when given the right stage.

A proud moment for teachers, parents, and the entire school as our children blossomed with confidence and charm!
