John Milton was blessed with a talent so supreme that he was anxious about not being able to use his potential , that too at the age of 24. In his early twenties Milton faces a mid life crisis and wants to be like Homer or Virgil . Ultimately , he finds the solution to his desperation in God's will.

The sonnet highlights the Puritannical views of the poet of "Paradise Lost", arguably the greatest epic written in English language, as effectively as it shows the making of a great writer .

Ordinary people surrender to Death but not Poets . Metaphysical questions of what comes after death worries not at all ,the Metaphysical Poet John Donne . He looks Death straight in the eye and says:

One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

The word Canonization has a very sacred significance in Christianity but John Donne creates a buzz in the literary arena when he uses this word in the context of amorous feelings . He gives a very different approch of attaining sainthood . Isn't it weird to attain some kind of abstract spiritual quality through romantic love ? That's the characteristic of Metaphysical Poetry .
